1,000 Britons die every week due to air pollution
On April 27, the British government announced that nearly 1,000 people in the UK die every week from diseases related to air pollution.
The report, titled Air Quality, by the UK Parliament's Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee, also highlighted the importance of creating clean air zones for UK towns and cities to eliminate the risks of cardiovascular, respiratory and other diseases caused by air pollution.

The report also sets out plans for clean air zones in five of the UK’s most polluted cities, including plans to cut the impact of pollutants such as nitrogen dioxide on human health and the environment.
It is estimated that air pollution kills 50,000 people in the UK each year.
