12 projects won First Prize at the Provincial Science and Technology Competition for the 2023-2024 school year
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of January 18, the Department of Education and Training held the closing ceremony and awarded prizes for the Provincial Science and Technology Competition for high school students in the 2023-2024 school year.
This year's contest has 213 projects in 14 fields by 422 authors from many middle and high schools across the province.
After 2 days of judging, according to the organizers' assessment, this year, the projects demonstrated new and creative scientific ideas, many projects had research skills, proposed solutions suitable to their own conditions, many projects were practical and highly feasible.

In particular, some projects have raised the issue of innovation and integration to have smart devices to meet the needs of the community in health care, production, learning and life services.
During the presentation, many candidates paid attention to applying knowledge learned in class and practical knowledge in life into scientific research. These are scientific projects that are truly meaningful in real life, researched from concerns and discoveries through folk experiences, thereby hoping to improve many issues in the daily life and study of students.

Among the projects, there are many projects that were highly appreciated by the judges, typically: Project "Production of deodorant spray for underarms, hand and foot odor, reducing dark underarms from guava leaves and potatoes" by authors Nguyen Tran Binh An - student of Le Viet Thuat High School and Hoang Quynh Anh - student of Ha Huy Tap High School.

Second, is the Project "Improving autonomy for students of Nghe An Province's Ethnic Boarding High School - Current situation and solutions" by authors Lau Nguyen Huong Mo and Tho Y Hai - Provincial Boarding High School for Ethnic Boarding High School.
These are also 2 projects selected by the Organizing Committee to participate in the National Science and Technology Competition held in March 2024.

Speaking at the closing and award ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung - Head of Secondary Education Department, Deputy Organizing Committee of the contest said: Up to this point,General Education Program 2018has been implemented in the 3rd year for middle school level, 2nd year for high school level.
The new program is associated with innovation in teaching methods and teaching organization. Many units have promoted teaching according to STEM education methods, project-based learning, so teachers and students are closer to learning projects, from small to large.

That is the premise for students to know how to think, nurture ideas as well as how to solve a practical problem from the knowledge learned, the capacity formed, moreover, gradually forming their creativity. Therefore, this year, in the competition projects, there are many projects that are very close to reality and more suitable for the age of high school students.

From the success of the contest, the organizers hope that educational institutions, parents, teachers will continue to encourage students to develop their own research topics based on their own thoughts and ideas.
To do so, in teaching, education and training departments and schools need to strongly implement teaching according to the STEM education method, project-based teaching closely following the 2018 General Education Program so that students can get acquainted with exploration and research. From there, help students form necessary qualities and abilities such as: autonomy and self-study ability, communication and cooperation ability; problem-solving ability and creativity.


Of the 213 projects registered for this year's competition, the organizing committee selected and recognized 157 winning projects, including 12 first prizes; 38 second prizes; 48 third prizes; 59 fourth prizes. Among the winning projects, there were 12 projects by junior high school students from 5 mountainous districts, many of which won high prizes. Typically, the Department of Education and Training of Tuong Duong, Con Cuong, and Que Phong all had 2/2 winning projects, including 1 winning first prize.
At the same time, the Organizing Committee also decided to award Certificates of Merit to 12 participating units with excellent results.
