12 months in prison for 9x accomplice in motorbike theft

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of December 20, the People's Court of Nghia Dan district held a public mobile trial to try the case of Vi Van Tin (born in 1995), residing in Chau Dinh commune, Quy Hop district, for the crime of property theft.

According to the indictment of the People's Procuracy of Nghia Dan district: At about 7:30 a.m. on October 12, 2016, a young man named Tuan invited Vi Van Tin to go steal a motorbike. When passing through Nghia Hieu commune, Nghia Dan, Tuan and Tin discovered a black and white SIRIUS motorbike with license plate number 21B1-242.74 belonging to Ho Thanh Tuan parked on the side of the road.

Tuan used a pliers to break the motorbike lock while Tin stood guard. After breaking the lock, Tuan drove the motorbike for a while, then gave the newly stolen motorbike to Tin to drive, while Tuan drove his motorbike.

The two motorcyclists went to the Tay Hieu intersection in Thai Hoa town, when the stolen motorbike ran out of gas. Tin walked about 100m, Tuan said he would wait for Tuan to go buy gas. After waiting and not seeing Tuan return, Tin was afraid that his actions would be discovered, so he went to the Nghia Dan district police station to confess and report his crime. The value of the property that Vi Van Tin had appropriated from Ho Thanh Tuan was 11,000,0000 VND (Eleven million VND).

At the trial, Vi Van Tin confessed his crime. Applying Clause 1, Article 138 of the Penal Code, Vi Van Tin was sentenced to 12 months in prison for theft of property./.
