6 people in 1 family died after being hit by a truck, an atmosphere of mourning in a poor village
In a split second, the accident took the lives of six people in a family in the border commune of Nam Can. Those who survived still cannot believe it and the haunting memories will never fade.
This morning, the temperature in the border area of Nam Can commune (Ky Son district) dropped, the cold rushed in like a cutting skin. Tham Hin village was covered in a thick layer of fog. In a small house by the road, coffins were lined up, making witnesses shed tears. Grief covered the whole small village.

Mr. Va Ba Hua, a resident living more than ten meters from the accident site, recounted that: Yesterday afternoon (January 12), around 5 p.m., he was sitting in his kitchen warming himself when he suddenly heard a loud bang. Pushing the door open and running outside, the scene before his eyes made him freeze. After a moment of regaining his composure, he saw that a white truck had crashed into Mr. Va Ba Do's house.
“There was debris everywhere, people were lying under the car. At that time, many people also ran. Some cried and screamed, some helped the victims up, but it seemed that many of them were dead,” Mr. Hua recounted.

In a small house on the hillside by the roadside, Mr. Va Xenh Lu, the husband of the victim Le Thi Khiem and also the grandfather of the deceased children, sat sadly hugging his knees in a corner of the house. He said that Mrs. Khiem was Kinh but followed him here to marry a Mong woman. They had 12 children (6 boys, 6 girls). Although the family was poor, the children were all obedient and good at studying. In recent years, Mr. Khiem had been old and weak, so everything in the house had depended on Mrs. Khiem. Now that she had passed away along with her daughter-in-law and grandchildren, he was completely devastated.
“There is nothing left, my wife and my grandchildren have all left me. It hurts so much. Why doesn’t God let me go with them?” - Mr. Xenh Lu sobbed.
The house, which was also the place where Va Ba Do (Mr. Va Xenh Lu's son) and his wife used to sell groceries, was now littered with broken pieces. The loss of his son left a deep pain in the young father's heart.
Do recounted that: The house was built by the couple with their savings about three years ago. However, after a while of construction, Do went to work for a company to pay off the debt, then returned to use it as a small business to make a living.
“Yesterday, my mother came down to play with her grandchildren, besides my children, there was also my sister-in-law and my brother's 3 grandchildren (Va Ba Denh and Va Ba Na). Seeing her playing happily with the grandchildren, my wife went in to get a pack of candy for the grandchildren to eat and then went back to the back of the house. I only heard a loud noise like an earthquake and then I lost my direction. When I found my way out, I saw my mother, my children and the grandchildren lying all over the ground” - And Ba Do swallowed his tears and recounted.
