Nghe An General Friendship Hospital receives and implements liver and heart transplant techniques from Viet Duc Friendship Hospital
(Baonghean.vn) - Nghe An General Hospital is preparing resources to purchase equipment; preparing human resources to conduct training and receive liver and heart transplant techniques transferred from Viet Duc Friendship Hospital. It is expected that by 2025, Nghe An General Hospital will be able to perform liver transplant techniques.
On the afternoon of August 25, Nghe An General Friendship Hospital and Viet Duc Friendship Hospital (Hanoi) organized a program to accept the first phase of kidney transplant technique transfer package and deploy the second phase of organ transplant technique at Nghe An General Friendship Hospital.
Attending the program, on the side of the Ministry of Health, there were Master Nguyen Dinh Anh - Director of the Department of Communications and Emulation and Reward; on the side of Viet Duc Friendship Hospital, there were Hero of Labor, People's Physician, Professor, Doctor Tran Binh Giang - Director of the Hospital and experts; on the side of Nghe An province, there were comrades Bui Dinh Long - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Duong Dinh Chinh - Director of Nghe An Department of Health.

In 2019, with the consent of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee and Nghe An Department of Health,Nghe An General Friendship Hospitalhas received the transfer of kidney transplant techniques from Viet Duc Friendship Hospital - a leading unit in the field of organ transplants such as liver transplants, heart transplants, and kidney transplants in Vietnam.

After a period of active preparation in terms of facilities and human resources, on September 16, 2020, the Ministry of Health issued Decision No. 3992/QD-BYT on recognizing Nghe An General Hospital as a medical facility qualified to perform kidney removal and transplantation techniques from living donors and from brain-dead donors.
In October 2020, under the direct guidance of the team of experts at Viet Duc Friendship Hospital, the first kidney transplant was successfully performed atNghe An General Friendship HospitalUp to now, 6 pairs of patients have had absolutely successful kidney transplants at Nghe An General Friendship Hospital.

The successful implementation of kidney transplantation has marked a major turning point in the development of technical expertise in medicine in general and in the field of organ transplantation in particular; creating a new premise and prospect for the organ transplantation profession in Nghe An.
In order to meet the increasing demand for treatment of patients in the province and the region, Nghe An General Friendship Hospital has been proposing to the Provincial People's Committee and Nghe An Department of Health to allow the establishment of an organ transplant center; and requesting Viet Duc Friendship Hospital to support the transfer of liver and heart transplant techniques in the near future.

During the working program, Nghe An General Friendship Hospital and Viet Duc Friendship Hospital conducted an assessment and acceptance of the first phase of kidney transplant technology transfer package; surveyed and evaluated the human resources, facilities, existing equipment and the hospital's ability to receive liver and heart transplant technology packages.
Liver transplant technique may be available by 2025
At the meeting, Mr. Bui Dinh Long - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee awarded the Certificate of Merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee to Viet Duc Friendship Hospital for its outstanding achievements in transferring kidney transplant techniques, contributing positively to the development of the health sector of Nghe An province.

Comrade Bui Dinh Long also stated: Nghe An province supports the proposal and creates the most favorable conditions for the establishment of an organ transplant center of Nghe An General Hospital. In the immediate future, Nghe An General Hospital needs to effectively transfer liver and heart transplant techniques from Viet Duc Hospital. The two hospitals need to develop detailed plans, specific goals and progress to strive to complete.

He hoped that Viet Duc Friendship Hospital would continue to pay attention to and support Nghe An General Friendship Hospital in perfecting kidney transplant techniques; survey, advise and support the establishment of an organ transplant center; support Nghe An General Friendship Hospital to coordinate well with the National Coordination Center for human organ transplants to have a source of transplant organs for patients; and gradually transfer liver and heart transplant techniques to Nghe An General Friendship Hospital.
Receiving the instructions, at this time, Nghe An General Hospital has prepared resources to purchase equipment; prepared human resources to conduct training in liver and heart transplant techniques. It is expected that by mid-2025, Nghe An General Hospital will be able to perform liver transplant techniques.
