Need to clarify violations in policy payments in Cat Van commune

(Baonghean.vn) -This afternoon, September 13, the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Nghe An held a meeting to unify the content of violations in implementing policies for meritorious people in Cat Van commune (Thanh Chuong).

Also attending were representatives of Nghe An Newspaper, PC 46 Department of Provincial Police and Thanh Chuong District People's Committee.

At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Huu Vinh - Chairman of Thanh Chuong District People's Committee reported on the inspection and verification of the settlement of funeral expenses and payment of allowances for beneficiaries of regular allowances in Cat Van Commune. According to the report, after Nghe An Newspaper No. 9081 and 9082 published on June 28 and 29, 2012 published a series of articles reflecting violations in the implementation of payment of allowances for beneficiaries of policies in Cat Van Commune, Thanh Chuong District People's Committee established a working group to inspect and verify the contents stated in the newspaper.

Through checking the regular allowance payment records of the Cat Van Commune Payment Board and the results of direct verification at the families of the subjects, it was shown that: from the beginning of 2011 to June 30, 2012, there were 26 subjects with revolutionary contributions who received regular monthly allowances (including 2 subjects receiving 2 allowances), who died, but the Cat Van Commune People's Committee did not make the reduction. The amount of money that had to be recovered was 143,058,000 VND.

At the meeting, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Hung - an officer of PC 46 Department (Provincial Police) said: the initial preliminary results that the investigation agency has grasped are different from the conclusion issued by the People's Committee of Thanh Chuong district. Lieutenant Colonel Hung also said that the investigation agency will clarify the violations in the payment of policies in Cat Van commune from 2006 to present.

At the meeting, leaders of Nghe An Newspaper welcomed the timely involvement of functional departments and agencies and recommended that the authorities need to be more urgent and drastic to soon clarify the violations that occurred in Cat Van commune to handle the right people, the right crimes, avoiding the phenomenon of doing things perfunctorily, coping, causing resentment among the people.

Concluding the meeting, Comrade Bui Nguyen Lan - Director of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs emphasized: The violations in Cat Van were systematic and organized, the subjects took advantage of their positions and powers, intentionally violated the law, causing loss of state assets, and legalized documents and books for personal gain. In addition, he also pointed out that the reason for these violations was the lack of inspection and supervision by the industry and the district. He suggested that Thanh Chuong district coordinate with the provincial police to clarify those violations, handle the right people and the right crimes to regain the people's trust, thereby contributing to better implementing policies for people with meritorious services.
