APG optical cable repaired earlier than expected
Instead of two to three weeks as previously announced, the APG submarine cable took just over two days to repair.
According to VNPT Net, the international partners of these networks have fixed the problem that caused the loss of 930G of bandwidth on the international APG submarine cable at 5:10 p.m. yesterday, April 25. The cause was determined to be the loss of the power configuration on the cable and has been reconfigured. The bandwidth and connection quality of Vietnam's international Internet are now stable.
Previously, it was reported that the APG fiber optic cable problem would take two to three weeks to completely fix. However, due to favorable weather conditions and the problem not being as serious as initially assessed, international partners of network operators in Vietnam only fixed it in two days.
The incident affected domestic users on the Hung Kings' death anniversary yesterday, April 25. Many people said it took a long time to view new news on Facebook or send messages on Messenger quite slowly. Many international websites were also difficult to access.
This time the problem with the APG cable only took two days to repair. |
This is the third time this year that the APG submarine cable has been unable to operate stably. In mid-January, the APG cable was moved in Singapore for two days to serve the expansion of Changi Airport (Singapore). At the same time, the AAG cable also reconfigured its power.
Then on February 27, APG continued to have problems at a location at sea about 125 km from Hong Kong. This affected the capacity of international Internet connections from Vietnam to Hong Kong.
The APG cable is 10,400 km long, located under the Pacific Ocean, invested by international enterprises and four Vietnamese companies including FPT, VNPT, Viettel and CMC. With a maximum bandwidth of up to 54 Tb/s, this is the submarine optical cable with the largest capacity operating in Asia.
