Colorful Yogurt Fever: Female Student Earns 100 Million/Month

After the white jelly tea, the matcha milk tea craze has emerged and taken over the market in the past 1-2 years. By the beginning of this summer, colorful fruit yogurt - a new drink - began to dominate shops and was sold widely on the "online market", with prices of 20,000 - 30,000 VND/bottle depending on the volume.

Fruit yogurt lovers don’t have to drive to the shop, because this is a drink, packaged in a small, pretty bottle. Customers can easily take it anywhere, or buy it to put in the refrigerator.

The most eye-catching feature is the fruit yogurt bottles with different colors of green, red, purple, yellow, orange,... due to the addition of fruit sauces. Notably, in addition to the usual fruit mixes, fruit yogurt also has a sugar-free version for those who avoid sweets because they are afraid of gaining weight.

According to many fans of fruit yogurt, making this drink is not difficult because the recipe is similar to yogurt, just need to mix in fruit flavors. However, fruit yogurt drinks are extremely popular with many people because they meet all the standards: neat and easy to carry, can be stored in the refrigerator for a whole week and still taste as good as new, have many different flavors so easy to choose and easy to drink, and avoid the constant worry of weight gain and obesity.

Holding a bottle of passion fruit milk tea in her hand, Ms. Nguyen Thuy Duong, an accountant at a company on Vuong Thua Vu Street (Thanh Xuan, Hanoi), shared that for nearly a month now, the women in her office have been drinking fruit yogurt instead of breakfast. Some are even so addicted that they drink 1 bottle in the morning and 1 bottle at noon instead of rice to stay in shape. People often order dozens of bottles at a time to drink gradually.

Thanks to selling this drink, many students can earn tens of millions each month.

Revenue of 100 million/month

While filling small plastic bottles with yogurt to prepare to mix in fruit sauces, Nguyen Mai Chi, a second-year student at Xuan Thuy University (Cau Giay, Hanoi), boasted: “This batch of 100 bottles is just enough for me to deliver to customers in the morning. In the afternoon, there will be a small batch of about 50 more bottles.”

Chi said that although it is just the beginning of summer and the weather is still quite cool, fruit yogurt is selling well and has become a favorite dish of office workers and students. Therefore, for over a month now, Chi has switched to making this drink to sell more.

“Last summer I made matcha milk tea, but this year I find it harder to sell. As for fruit yogurt, it sells out as soon as I make it,” Chi said, adding that the recipe for fruit yogurt is extremely easy, she learned it on cooking forums. When she started making it, she succeeded the first time.

This fruit yogurt has the same recipe as eating yogurt, the only difference is the incubation time. Drinking yogurt takes a shorter incubation time. Specifically, take 500ml of fresh milk, 2 boxes of yogurt, 1 liter of filtered water, 1 can of milk and mix them together. Then pour it into 1.5 liter bottles and put it in a styrofoam box to incubate continuously for 10 hours. With the above amount of milk, when packaged in small bottles for sale, you will get 7 bottles of 250ml milk.

Incubate at around 9pm tonight, then take it out at 7-8am the next morning, divide the yogurt into small bottles. After dividing, add fruit sauce to the bottles according to the flavor requested by the customer and keep it cool before delivering to the customer.

If diligent, each month the seller can earn several tens of millions of dong.

Chi boasted that each 250ml bottle of yogurt costs 20,000 VND. She makes 2 batches a day, which equals about 150 bottles. On average, she sells over 1,000 bottles a week, which translates to nearly 100 million VND in revenue per month. After deducting all expenses, Chi makes a profit of about 40-50 million VND.

It is not yet the peak of the hot season, so the goods are only consumed at a moderate level. Therefore, in her free evenings, Chi makes milk to ferment, and pours it into bottles in the morning. As for delivery, she hires a shipper, and only delivers directly when she is free or in the evenings when she comes home from school.

Similarly, Bui Tuyet Mai, a first-year student at a university in Tran Duy Hung (Cau Giay) also said that customers usually order at least 2-3 bottles of fruit yogurt/time, and some regular customers even order 7-10 bottles per week.

“I have only been selling for 3 weeks now, and each week I sell about 300 bottles, just enough to sell all the yogurt I make and not leave it for the next day,” Mai said. She revealed that although she only sells a modest amount, after deducting expenses, for every 100 bottles she makes a profit of 1 million VND. In total, she sells 300 bottles a week, making a profit of 3 million VND.
