
On July 30, 2013, the Politburo issued Resolution No. 26-NQ/TW on the direction and tasks for the development of Nghe An province until 2020. After 5 years of implementation, the Politburo directed a preliminary review and issued Notice No. 55-TB/TW dated April 20, 2019 on the preliminary review of 5 years of implementing Resolution No. 26. Resolution No. 26 and Notice No. 55 have demonstrated the consistency, continuity and practicality in the Party's policies and orientations on the development of Nghe An province; are an important basis for the Government, ministries and branches to issue mechanisms and policies to supplement and attract resources for development; are an important basis for Nghe An province to build a development strategy in line with the Party's policies and guidelines.

Up to now, after 10 years of implementation, Nghe An is gradually moving towards becoming the center of the North Central region in terms of finance, trade, tourism, education and training, science and technology, health care, culture, sports, and high-tech industry. Vinh city and Cua Lo town are gradually playing the role of economic growth poles of the province; the development of the Western region has many bright spots. The Southeast Nghe An Economic Zone is becoming a key, multi-industry, multi-functional economic zone, gradually affirming its role as a driving force in attracting investment. The material, cultural and spiritual life of the people is gradually improving. The scale of the economy currently ranks 10th in the country.





Budget revenue: Total state budget revenue in the period of 2014 - 2020 reached 88,589 billion VND; in 2021 it reached 18,936 billion VND; in 2022 it reached 21,805 billion VND.
Exportincreased sharply, from 636 million USD in 2013 to 2.49 billion USD in 2022, mostly in the export of goods.

Attracting foreign investmentachieved many positive results, contributing to improving growth quality. In particular, in 2022, the newly granted and adjusted FDI capital invested in Nghe An reached more than 961.3 million USD, bringing Nghe An into the top 10 localities attracting the largest FDI in the country for the first time. In the first 4 months of 2023, Nghe An continued to be in the top 10 localities with the highest total registered foreign investment capital in the country. As of April 20, 2023, the province had 5 newly granted projects with newly registered capital reaching 286.95 million USD, ranking first in the North Central and Central Coast regions.

By April 2023, Nghe An had 309/411 communes (75.18%) meeting new rural standards; 53 communes meeting advanced new rural standards; 6 communes meeting model new rural standards; 9 district-level units completing the task of building and meeting new rural standards.
