According to the TASS news agency.Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made strong statements on May 29 regarding the diplomatic situation between Russia and the European Union (EU). Moscow affirmed its firm stance against Brussels' actions and commented in depth on developments in military aid in the Ukraine conflict.

According to the latest statement from the Kremlin, the EU has now become a party to the conflict. Therefore, the bloc is completely ineligible to act as a mediator in negotiations between Russia and Ukraine.

Spokesman Dmitry Peskov pointed out that Brussels' complete rejection of dialogue with Russia is "the biggest mistake of this union." The EU's "anti-dialogue" policy is the direct cause of the serious deadlock in bilateral diplomatic relations today.

Nevertheless, Russia also sees a bright spot in Europe's recent moves. The fact that the EU is trying to find a factor that can reopen channels of communication with Russia shows that they have somewhat recognized the importance of dialogue.

Speaking to the press, Dmitry Peskov stated: "They are not screening for intermediaries, but rather looking for people who can restart the conversation with Russia. This fact itself is a positive sign and should be welcomed. No issue can be discussed and resolved satisfactorily without dialogue."

Besides its relationship with the EU, the Kremlin also offered positive assessments of statements from Budapest. Specifically, Moscow expressed strong agreement with Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Magyar's statement that Hungary would not supply weapons and military equipment to Ukraine.

Answering reporters' questions, Peskov emphasized: "We view this very positively. If a country declares that it sees 'adding fuel to the fire' as unnecessary, then that is a welcome move."

According to Russia, the peace process in Ukraine would be much faster if all other countries simultaneously stopped providing weapons to Kyiv. When asked by the press whether the Kremlin had anticipated this decision by Hungary, Peskov affirmed: "We expect all countries to make the same decision. Then, peace will certainly come sooner."
