Restrictions and Restriction Codes of the Latest Driver's License 2025

Reply:Pursuant to Section 4, Section 5, Appendix X of Circular 12/2025/TT-BCA, the regulations on restrictive conditions and restrictive condition codes of the latest 2025 Driver's License are as follows:

(1) Restrictions

- For Class B driving license with automatic transmission (including electric cars), it is stated: "Issued to people who are only allowed to drive automatic transmission cars (including electric cars)";

- For Class A1 driving license issued to disabled people to drive 3-wheeled motorbikes for disabled people, it is stated: "Issued to disabled people to only drive 3-wheeled motorbikes for disabled people";

- For Class B driving license with automatic transmission (including electric cars) issued to left-handed disabled people, it is stated: "Issued to left-handed disabled people who are only allowed to drive automatic transmission cars (including electric cars) with headlight and turn signal control mechanisms suitable for left-handed disabled people";

- For automatic Class B driving licenses issued to right-handed disabled people, it is stated: "Issued to right-handed disabled people who are only allowed to drive automatic cars with headlight and turn signal control mechanisms suitable for right-handed disabled people";

- For the automatic Class B driving license issued to a person with a right leg disability, it is stated: "Issued to a person with a left hand disability who is only allowed to drive an automatic car with an engine throttle and foot brake control mechanism suitable for a person with a right leg disability";

- For automatic Class B driving licenses issued to people with disabilities in general (except for those with left hand, right hand, and right leg disabilities), write:

“Granted to people with disabilities in general to only drive automatic cars”;

- For Class A1 driving licenses issued before the effective date of this Circular, they can be changed or reissued to Class A driving licenses with the limited condition that they can only drive 2-wheeled motorbikes with a cylinder capacity of less than 175 cm3 or an electric motor capacity of less than 14 kW, as follows:

“Issued to people who are only allowed to drive 2-wheeled motorbikes with a cylinder capacity of less than 175 cm3 or an electric motor capacity of less than 14 kW”;

- For automatic B1 driving licenses issued before the effective date of this circular, which are changed or reissued to B driving licenses, the following shall be recorded:

“Issued to people who are only allowed to drive automatic transmission cars (including electric cars)”.

(2) Driver's License Restriction Code

The codes printed on the back of your Driver's License indicate the conditions that must be met to drive.

A.01: Only driving 3-wheeled motorbikes for the disabled;

A.02: Only 2-wheeled motorbikes with a cylinder capacity of 125 cm3 or more or an electric motor capacity of 14kW or more using a continuously variable transmission are allowed to be driven;

A.03: Only allowed to drive 2-wheeled motorbikes with cylinder capacity up to 175 cm3 or electric motor capacity up to 14 kW;

B.01: Only driving class B cars with automatic transmission (including electric cars);

B.02: Only driving automatic class B cars, issued to left-handed disabled people;

B.03: Only driving automatic class B cars, issued to right-handed disabled people;

B.04: Only driving automatic class B cars, issued to people with right leg disabilities;

B.05: Only driving automatic class B cars, issued to people with disabilities in general.
