World gold price today, July 6, 2025, and chart of world gold price fluctuations over the past 24 hours.

According to Kitco, the spot price of gold in the world market at 3:30 PM on July 6th (Vietnam time) was $3336.23 USD/ounce. The price of gold today remains unchanged compared to yesterday; it is up $70.77 USD/ounce compared to last week. Converted using the USD exchange rate at Vietcombank (26,350 VND/USD), the world gold price is approximately 109.45 million VND/ounce (excluding taxes and fees). Thus, the price of SJC gold bars is currently 11.45 million VND/ounce higher than the international gold price.

The Fed is struggling with the interest rate dilemma, and a weakening US dollar is a lifeline for gold prices.

Colin Cieszynski, senior market strategist at SIA Wealth Management, argues that the Federal Reserve is in a dilemma. "The Fed is currently caught between two difficult choices: on the one hand, inflation has fallen, so theoretically the Fed has room to cut interest rates. On the other hand, the economy is weakening significantly, which typically requires raising interest rates to curb inflation."

What many people, especially politicians, often overlook is the signaling effect. When the Fed started cutting interest rates, the public didn't see it as a sign of an improving economy. They associated it with the easing measures typically used during recessions, whereas there was no recession at the time.

Cutting interest rates in the US economy could stimulate inflation, especially when combined with the impact of tariffs. The Fed is not only concerned about current inflation, but also about the prospect of inflation a year from now if these factors combine.

While many investors are disappointed that gold prices haven't surged, Cieszynski argues that what's more noteworthy is the decline in the value of the US dollar, the main factor preventing gold prices from plummeting. In just six months, EUR/USD has risen 14%, GBP 10%, CNY 8%, and CAD and AUD both 6%. This is a huge fluctuation in exchange rates, yet it has received little attention.

Logically, with the decrease in risk and the boom in the stock market, the price of gold should have fallen sharply. But that's not the case. If these factors strongly impacted the stock market, they should have similarly affected gold. The reason gold has remained stable is due to the weakening US dollar.

The market is expecting the Fed to cut rates by around 80 basis points in 2025, equivalent to three rate cuts. With four meetings remaining, the Fed could easily cut rates in September and December, or even act as early as July to meet political pressure.

However, he argued that the early cuts wouldn't have a major impact: "I don't think this will significantly change the market as it's already within general expectations. Gold prices might benefit from this, but not a strong boost."

Gold price forecast after a week of strong fluctuations.

Marc Chandler, Managing Director at Bannockburn Global Forex, believes gold prices could continue to fall following this week's data. A stronger-than-expected US jobs report, coupled with rising interest rates, has halted gold's recovery. The cash market is showing signs of decline, suggesting the correction phase may not be over yet. Gold prices could return to $3,250, or even slightly lower.

Sean Lusk, an expert from Walsh Trading, believes that the current price of gold is overvalued, exceeding $3,300 per ounce. The market is gradually gaining more stability, such as clearer trade agreements and a more defined tariff framework. This could boost private sector job creation and reduce market risks.

According to Lusk, gold prices could correct to the $3,225-$3,123 range (the lowest point in May) to consolidate the long-term uptrend. Even if gold prices fall to $3,141-$3,170, they would still be up about 20% from the end of last year ($2,641). However, he believes this price drop will only be temporary and gold prices will continue to rise again in 2025 due to potential increased economic uncertainty towards the end of the year.

Darin Newsom, senior analyst at Barchart.com, predicts that gold prices will continue to trade sideways in the near future. He said gold remains a safe-haven asset, especially as the deadline for new US tariffs (July 9) approaches.

Technically, August gold futures are fluctuating around the $3,345 moving average, situated between key support and resistance levels.

Jim Wyckoff, senior analyst at Kitco, also agrees that gold prices will continue to trade sideways in a consolidation phase. The chart still shows slightly positive signals, but new fundamental factors are needed to push gold prices out of the current trading range.

As of now, the spot gold price is at $3336.23 per ounce, up 2.17% from the beginning of the week. This indicates that the market is in a state of equilibrium amidst conflicting signals from the macroeconomic environment and monetary policy.
