Gold nanoparticles have no effect in curing cancer, and can even cause liver poisoning.
Currently, information about the high efficiency of cancer treatment with gold nanoparticles is "blossoming" on social networks. However, on the afternoon of July 12, a doctor at the Central Cancer Hospital confirmed that gold nanoparticles have no effect on cancer treatment and can even cause liver poisoning.
Associate Professor, Dr. Le Van Quang, Deputy Director of the Central Cancer Hospital, affirmed that studies have shown that gold nanoparticles have not been proven to be effective when used alone in the treatment of cancer.

According to Associate Professor Quang, gold nano has only been studied on a few animals, not on humans, so it cannot become a treatment method. In Vietnam, the Ministry of Health has not licensed gold nano for cancer treatment and this product is not on the list of cancer treatment drugs.
More dangerously, pure gold is inert and very difficult to excrete from the body, so people who drink gold nanoparticles for a long time, accumulating into large masses can lead to poisoning, even death. The visible risk is that gold nanoparticles can accumulate in tissues, causing liver toxicity.
Recently, on the social network Facebook, there are some personal pages created with the purpose of encouraging the use and sale of nano gold. According to the information posted on these personal pages, research projects on nano gold to treat cancer abroad have been very successful. This has created trust and some people have bought nano gold through the website. This product is advertised and sold for 12-14 million VND/bottle.
Associate Professor Quang said that in order to come up with a new treatment method or medicine, there needs to be a research process that meets the correct standards and methods, going through all the steps, in test tubes, on animals, and on humans before use.
But before this method is studied on humans, there must be sufficient evidence of effectiveness, toxicity and dosage on animals, all of which have not been convincingly presented with free gold nanoparticles. Therefore, if a product has not been studied to prove its therapeutic effects and has not been approved by the Ministry of Health, people should not trust it and "lose money and get sick".
Dr. Quang also added that although the Central Cancer Hospital has not treated any patients who have taken gold nanoparticles, there have been patients who have asked doctors about the effects of gold nanoparticles. Furthermore, the Cancer Hospital has had many cases where patients who were being treated at the hospital stopped and listened to advertisements to self-treat with traditional medicine, worship, etc. When the disease did not improve, they returned to the hospital for treatment, but it was too late.
Therefore, Dr. Quang recommends that when cancer patients have cancer, they should visit licensed and reputable cancer treatment facilities so that doctors can prescribe appropriate and recognized treatment methods.
