Russia-ASEAN Summit approves cooperation plan until 2020

The leaders participating in the Russia-ASEAN Summit adopted the Sochi Declaration and approved the Action Plan for the Development of Cooperation until 2020.

Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that, in the document, it clearly states: "the common task is to bring the partnership between Russia and ASEAN to a new strategic and qualitative level".

According to the President, this will allow "to better use the existing potential for expanding cooperation in the economic, cultural and humanitarian fields, and of course issues on the regional and international agenda."

According to a Kremlin source, the statement clearly reflects the countries' common approach to international and regional issues, as well as to further expanding partnership.

In addition, the leaders of the summit member states in Sochi approved the roadmap for 2016-2020. Earlier, presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said that in fact this document is an appendix to the Sochi Political Declaration.
