Workshop 'Sustainable tourism development in Ky Son district: Current situation and problems'
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of November 13, in Ky Son district, Nghe An Department of Science and Technology in collaboration with Friedrich Naumann Stiftung die Freiheit (FNF) and Ky Son district organized the Workshop "Sustainable tourism development in Ky Son district: Current situation and problems".
Attending the workshop were Dr. Pham Hung Tien - Deputy Director of FNF Institute.;Dr. Ngo Kieu Oanh - rural tourism consultant, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development; experts and researchers from agencies and units nationwide.
On the side of Nghe An province, there were comrade Vo Van Dung - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department; leaders of the Department of Science and Technology; representatives of provincial departments, branches and sectors; leaders of Ky Son district.

Ky Son is a mountainous district, the western border of Nghe An province, 250 km from Vinh city, with a natural area of 209,484 hectares (mountains account for over 98%, flat land accounts for over 1%), has a border with Laos of 203.409 km long, and has Nam Can International Border Gate.
With very rich and diverse tourism resources due to the majestic mountainous terrain and ethnic minority culture that still retains its original features, not yet fully explored, it is very attractive to domestic and foreign tourists. This is the foundation and opportunity for the development of eco-tourism, adventure tourism, spiritual cultural tourism, agricultural tourism, community tourism, etc.

Initially, the district has developed tourism models such as the tourist spot in Na Ngoi commune (climbing to conquer Pu Xai Lai Leng peak), the tourist spot in Muong Long commune with many entertainment activities such as bull fighting, Mong people's market; Yen Hoa village tourist spot, My Ly commune with the identity of Thai people with Xop Lot ancient tower...

The district has issued the Project “Building and developing tourism in Ky Son district for the period 2020 - 2025, with a vision to 2030”. However, tourism development in Ky Son still has many issues that need to be thoroughly addressed, such as inadequate infrastructure and technical facilities; inadequate legal regulations on tourism management and many shortcomings…

The workshop “Sustainable tourism development in Ky Son district: Current situation and issues” was held to assess the current status of tourism products and services, propose the development of new products to serve tourists in the coming time. At the same time, propose solutions to innovate tourism promotion activities, organize tourism development linkages with provinces and cities across the country.
The workshop gathered 17 presentations from experts and researchers nationwide, the content of the presentations revolved around the following issues: Assessment of the current situation and tourism potential in the district; proposing models and solutions for sustainable tourism development in Ky Son district, sharing experiences in successful tourist destinations and some suggestions for tourism in Ky Son district.
