Workshop on rural tourism development in Nghe An province

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of March 17, 2015, in Vinh City, the Provincial People's Committee coordinated with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to organize a workshop on rural tourism development in Nghe An province. Comrade Dinh Thi Le Thanh - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Head of the Provincial Tourism Development Steering Committee; Mr. Mori Mutsuya - Chief Representative of JICA Vietnam co-chaired the workshop.

Overview of the workshop.

In recent years, with the attention and direction of the Central Committee, the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee, Nghe An tourism has developed in many aspects. The number of visitors and tourism revenue has increased significantly each year. The development of tourism in the province has contributed to shifting the economic structure of the province, creating jobs and increasing income for all classes of people, raising people's knowledge, improving the ecological environment, adding beauty to the urban landscape and contributing to increasing revenue for the budget. And exploiting the potential of rural tourism is a direction that the province is aiming for. This workshop was held with the hope that the Japan International Cooperation Agency will support and advise the province on how to develop rural tourism and key tourist areas.

Mr. Ta Khac Uyen - Director of Nghe An Tourism Joint Stock Company said that travel centers need to take drastic action in promoting rural tourism in Nghe An.

At the workshop, delegates listened to presentations from relevant departments and sectors to find solutions for developing rural tourism in the province such as "Some issues on developing rural tourism in Nghe An", "Current situation and solutions for developing rural tourism", "Associating agricultural products with developing rural tourism"...

In particular, this workshop heard the enthusiastic opinions of Mr. Ando Katsuhiro - Tourism Development Expert of JICA Vietnam, Mr. Yuasa Kazuyoshi - Citrus expert of JICA organization on ways to develop rural tourism in Nghe An in the coming time in potential districts such as Nam Dan, Con Cuong, Quy Hop, Quy Chau... However, in order to develop rural tourism, it is important that farmers themselves are aware that they are living and exploiting on land with tourism potential. And farmers need to know how to turn local agricultural products into tourism products.

Concluding the workshop, Comrade Dinh Thi Le Thanh acknowledged the contributions of JICA to Nghe An in the past time in the field of agriculture and rural areas. She hoped that in the coming time, with the advice and support of JICA, rural tourism in Nghe An will develop in a sustainable way, contributing to increasing income, improving social security, shifting the economic structure of the locality and improving the living environment for the people in localities with tourism potential.
