More than 40% of rural population uses clean water
(Baonghean.vn) - By the end of the first quarter of 2016, according to the Center for Clean Water and Rural Environment, the percentage of rural population using hygienic water is estimated at 75.5%; meanwhile, clean water quality according to QCVN 02:2009/BYT is estimated at 40.6%.

In the first quarter of 2016, the Center for Domestic Water and Rural Environmental Sanitation completed the following contents: Implementing the 2016 plan; Checking the progress and quality of construction of centralized water supply works; actively integrating the construction of centralized clean water works, especially from the capital source of the National Target Program on New Rural Construction.
Focus on directing localities and units to actively integrate the construction, upgrading and expansion of clean water works to increase the proportion of rural people using clean and hygienic water according to criteria 2570/QD-BNN of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, striving to complete the goals of the Resolution of the 18th Congress right from the first year of the 2016-2020 term. Accelerate the implementation of the Clean Water Supply Project for Central Provinces (ADB capital).

Currently, Nghe An is benefiting from the Central Region Clean Water Supply and Rural Environmental Sanitation Project, which borrows capital from the Asian Development Bank (ADB). In 2015, the project continued to invest in the inter-commune water supply and sanitation sub-project for the four communes of Long Thanh, Khanh Thanh, Vinh Thanh, Trung Thanh, Yen Thanh district, under the Central Region Clean Water Supply Project funded by ADB, with a scale of supplying water to 5,315 households and public places.
For mountainous districts, most use self-flowing water supply systems.
In 2016, the province strived to increase the proportion of rural population using clean water (HVS) from 75% to 78% by the end of 2016, an increase of 3%. Of which, the proportion using clean water according to QCVN 02:2009/BYT increased from 40.0% to 44.0%, an increase of 4%.
According to the current definition, hygienic water is water used directly or after filtration that meets quality requirements: colorless, odorless, tasteless, does not contain ingredients that can affect human health, and can be used for drinking after boiling.
Drinking water or clean water is water of sufficient purity for humans, animals and plants to drink, consume, absorb or use without risk of immediate or long-term harm (Ministry of Health standard, QCVN 02:2009/BYT).
Clean water is an important criterion for assessing the quality of life.
