Coach Hoang Anh Tuan: 'Vietnam Olympic team must learn profound lessons'
(Baonghean.vn) - Coach Hoang Anh Tuan said that the Vietnamese Olympic team must learn from their experience after failing to pass the group stage of the 19th ASIAD.
In the final match of Group B, Vietnam Olympic team suffered a 1-3 defeat against Saudi Arabia. This defeat caused coach Hoang Anh Tuan and his team to stop at the group stage. This is not too surprising as Vietnam Olympic team is mainly composed of U20 players. In addition, the team is in a group with two strong opponents, Iran and Saudi Arabia.

Sharing about the match, coach Hoang Anh Tuan said: "Now, everything is over. In the last match, we had to face a strong team. Olympic Vietnam lost and the game ended here. But we have a young squad, and this tournament will be a very good lesson for the players in the future."
"Before the match, we actually knew that our chances were very limited. Although we were in a very difficult position, the Vietnamese Olympic team could still compare the goal difference and other factors with the third-placed teams in the remaining groups. Everyone saw that the Vietnamese players tried their best. I am very satisfied with my students' performance today," coach Hoang Anh Tuan confided.

The coach from Khanh Hoa continued: “The Vietnam Olympic team is very young, the youngest in the tournament. We lost to our opponents Iran and Saudi Arabia in terms of age, and also in terms of expertise. We have seen how both teams played. I also feel a little regretful that in this tournament, the Vietnam Olympic players did not play to their full potential, there could be many factors. The players were under pressure so they could not show their best professional ability.”

Talking about the lessons for Vietnamese football after this tournament, aiming for a new goal for the National team, coach Hoang Anh Tuan emphasized: “For young players, we should think that this tournament is still in the training process, and the National team level is training. Clubs train players for the National team, and youth teams continue to train to improve everything for the players to be able to join the National team. And when there is “dough”, whether or not it can be “made into glue” depends on the head coach of the National team. My task is to train. Through the tournament with strong opponents like this, it will be a useful lesson for the players”./.
