Man Utd are quietly looking for a replacement for Moyes.

David Moyes' future at Old Trafford has become uncertain following reports that Manchester United's board has met with Louis van Gaal.

The British newspaper Mirror reported on April 11th that a Manchester United delegation, including a member of the Glazer family, had met with Van Gaal at a secret location in Europe over the past two days. Newspapers from the Netherlands reported on this secret meeting almost simultaneously.

Van Gaal currently manages the Netherlands national team, but his contract with the Dutch Football Association (KNVB) will expire after the 2014 World Cup in Brazil this summer. The 62-year-old coach has confirmed he will not renew it, and the KNVB has already found a replacement for him in another familiar face, Guus Hiddink.

Van Gaal had never hidden his intention to seek a new Premier League club after having managed clubs in the Netherlands (Ajax, AZ), Spain (Barca), and Germany (Bayern).

Tottenham were reportedly the first club to contact the veteran manager to offer him a replacement for Tim Sherwood. However, negotiations between the two sides stalled, and Manchester United's interest also made Van Gaal hesitant about Tottenham's offer.

The latest moves by the Man Utd leadership have further fueled rumors about the possibility of current manager David Moyes being sacked, to make way for the arrival of the Dutch coach.

David Moyes rất có thể sẽ bị cho thôi việc vì kết quả nghèo nàn của Man Utd mùa này, dù ông được ký hợp đồng sáu năm khi lên thay Ferguson hè năm ngoái.
David Moyes is very likely to be sacked due to Manchester United's poor results this season, despite signing a six-year contract when he replaced Ferguson last summer.

Moyes was chosen by his legendary predecessor Alex Ferguson to succeed him, but his first season managing Man Utd was not as smooth as the former Everton manager had hoped. Man Utd broke a series of unwanted records, were eliminated from domestic cup competitions, had their chances of defending their title dashed early, and had virtually no hope of finishing in the top four of the Premier League.

Moyes' last glimmer of hope for Manchester United to win a trophy this season was dashed midweek when the team lost 1-3 to Bayern Munich in the second leg of the quarter-finals and were eliminated from the Champions League. This defeat, coupled with their dismal position in the Premier League, means that Manchester United are highly likely to miss out on Champions League next season after 17 consecutive years in the competition.
