In recent times, illegal multi-level marketing activities have become increasingly unpredictable, with complex scales and characteristics. Thousands of people have fallen victim to these schemes, resulting in economic and social consequences, and impacting political security.

In light of this situation, the Department of Industry and Trade organized a campaign to raise awareness among commune and ward officials, local authorities, and relevant departments about identifying illegal multi-level marketing schemes, contributing to preventing the rampant multi-level marketing problem in the province.

At the conference, delegates received basic knowledge about multi-level marketing from representatives of the Department of Industry and Trade. Specifically, this included information on goods that are not allowed to be sold through multi-level marketing, prohibited actions for multi-level marketing participants, the responsibilities of multi-level marketing participants, regulations on commission payments, bonuses, and other benefits, etc.

Ms. Vo Thi An, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, briefed the delegates on the signs of illegal multi-level marketing schemes.

The delegates also listened to a presentation from a representative of the Department of Industry and Trade on how to identify unreliable multi-level marketing businesses, such as: recruiting people to participate in multi-level marketing to buy products or make deposits; promising attractive profits; poor-quality products; and a lack of focus on sales and product consumption.

During the training session, participants were also warned about multi-level marketing schemes involving cryptocurrencies. This type of business involves investing real money to buy virtual currency, with participants promised high returns if they recruit more people. However, this business model carries significant risks, including account hijacking, exchange rate fluctuations, and potential financial loss.
