Man fined over 17 million VND for cutting down 3 trees in border forest area
(Baonghean.vn) - On March 24, Mr. Hoang Van Huynh - Head of the Ky Son District Forest Protection Department (Nghe An) said that the unit has just administratively fined 1 subject for the act of cutting down 3 trees and is continuing to investigate and handle according to the law regarding the number of trees cut down in Sub-area 416, Truong Son village, Nam Can commune.
Previously, on March 17, 2022, upon receiving information from the public, Ky Son Forest Protection Department established a working group including: Forest Protection Department, Ky Son Protective Forest Management Board, Nam Can Commune People's Committee, Nam Can Border Guard Station, to inspect the forest at Sub-region 416, Truong Son village, Nam Can commune, Ky Son district.
At Lot 8, Compartment 1, Sub-area 416, the delegation discovered 5 trees cut down on land outside the forestry planning area and Lot 6, Compartment 1, Sub-area 416 had 2 trees cut down on production forest land. The owners are all Ky Son Protective Forest Management Board.

Exploited forest products include 7 trees with diameters from 18-45 cm, mixed wood group VIII, total volume 4.375 m3 .
Conducting the inspection and verification, the team identified the violator as Mr. Luong Van Phanh (born in 1979), residing in Noong De village, Nam Can commune, Ky Son district. Through working with Mr. Phanh, Mr. Phanh confessed to having cut down 4 trees to repair the cow shed. The Forest Protection Department imposed an administrative fine of 17,500,000 VND.

Then, on March 22, 2022, the Forest Protection Department continued to establish an inspection team to re-verify the scene and the illegal logging subjects at Sub-area 416, Truong Son village, Nam Can commune.
Through expanded inspection at Lot 6, Compartment 1, Sub-area 416, 3 more cut stumps with diameters of 20-30 cm were discovered. The team made a record and handed over to the forest owner, the Ky Son Protective Forest Management Board, to give the number.illegal loggingabove to the warehouse of Ky Son Forest Protection Department for investigation, verification and handling according to the provisions of law.
