Scholars and the young generation are the pioneers on the path of Vietnam - China friendship.

Within the framework of the State visit to Vietnam of General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping, on the afternoon of December 13, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and his wife Ngo Thi Man, together with General Secretary and President Xi Jinping and his wife, Professor Peng Liyuan, and many senior leaders of both sides attended the Meeting of Friendship Scholars and Young Generations of Vietnam and China.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong expressed his joy and happiness at meeting with General Secretary and President Xi Jinping friends and comrades from China and Vietnam who have made great contributions to the Vietnam-China friendship, and was moved to meet with Chinese intellectuals, officials and relatives of Chinese comrades who had helped Vietnam during the years of fighting for national independence. The General Secretary also expressed his confidence in meeting with young people from both countries who aspire to follow in the footsteps of previous generations, bringing vitality and a bright future to the Vietnam-China relationship.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong emphasized that the friendly relationship between Vietnam and China has many good traditions; the close and intimate relationship between the people of the two countries is beautifully described in the song Vietnam - China by musician Do Nhuan."Bathing in the same river, I look over there, you look over here / Morning and evening we hear the rooster crow together";The people of the two countries have given each other much support and valuable assistance in the past struggle for national independence and the present cause of building socialism. The General Secretary affirmed that the Party, State and people of Vietnam always respect, remember and highly appreciate the strong and great support of the Party, State and people of China for Vietnam.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong shared with the friendship personalities and young generations of the two countries about the achievements of this visit, emphasizing that the two Parties and two countries have agreed to continue to deepen and elevate the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, building a Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future of strategic significance, for the happiness of the people of the two countries, for the cause of peace and progress of humanity.

Sharing about one of the most basic and important cooperation directions of Vietnam - China relations isStrengthening a stronger social foundation, The General Secretary affirmed that the deep and sincere aspirations of the people of the two countries for friendship, peace, cooperation and development for generations are the great source of strength and solid foundation for the belief in a bright future of the relationship between the two countries. The General Secretary welcomed and highly appreciated the sentiments and positive and extremely important contributions of the people of the two countries, in which intellectuals and youth play a core role; believed and hoped that intellectuals and youth of the two countries would continue to actively contribute to the common efforts to develop a solid, stable, sustainable and effective Vietnam - China relationship, in accordance with the spirit of the saying of President Ho Chi Minh and highly welcomed and shared by Chairman Mao Zedong."The close relationship between Vietnam and China, both comrades and brothers".

General Secretary and President Xi Jinping expressed his joy to return to Vietnam after 6 years, and was moved to meet and exchange with the friendship personalities and youth of the two countries, old friends who have devoted many years to the relationship between the two countries, and new, youthful faces; recalling the unforgettable memories of the traditional friendship of sharing the same goals, supporting each other, and bringing practical benefits to the people.

Emphasizing that the Vietnam-China friendship is based on the people, with the youth being the future, General Secretary and President Xi Jinping affirmed that the mechanisms for people-to-people exchange and cooperation between the two sides, including cultural exchanges and exchanges between border localities of the two sides, will contribute to strengthening the affection between the two sides, sharing the future in a turbulent world, and contributing more to the cause of human progress.

General Secretary and President Xi Jinping expressed his hope that young people will be the successors of the China-Vietnam friendship, actively contributing to enhancing cooperation that is beneficial to the development of the two countries; emphasizing that intellectuals and the young generation are the pioneers on the path of friendship between the two countries, pioneers for the progress of humanity, and together contribute to the stable and long-term development of an open, inclusive, harmonious, prosperous and developed Asia-Pacific region.

The meeting took place in a warm, friendly atmosphere with the participation of nearly 400 intellectuals and youths of the two countries. Representatives of intellectuals and young generations of the two countries shared profound memories and close affection between the people of the two countries; sincerely thanked the attention and close guidance of the two Parties, the two countries and the two General Secretaries personally, so that the people of the two countries could understand each other better; affirmed that they would make every effort to contribute to the implementation of the common perception of the high-ranking leaders of the two Parties and the two States on building a "foundation of friendship", making practical contributions to fostering the Vietnam - China friendship.
