| Hiller, Australia:Located next to the Pacific Ocean in Western Australia, Lake Hillier looks like a brick-pink painting. Set in a belt of sand and eucalyptus forests, this 600m long lake was discovered by Matthew Flinders in 1802. | Peyto, Western Canada:Located in Banff National Park, Peyto Lake is one of Canada’s most beautiful lakes. The lake is surrounded by glaciers that are between 45 and 125 million years old. The lake was named after Bill Peyto, who first discovered it in 1849. The frozen waters of Peyto Lake are crystal clear and when the light shines down on them, it creates a stunning landscape. | Laguna Colorada, Bolivia:The vast blue sky, the Andes mountains in the distance, and flamingos on the surface of Laguna Colorada Lake in southwestern Bolivia are a beautiful and attractive scene. Laguna Colorada Lake is red from sediments and red algae in the water. Located at an altitude of more than 4,200m above sea level, in the middle of the red lake is a borax island and a small white lake, creating a contrasting landscape with the dominant orange-red color of the lake. | Kelimutu, Indonesia:Kelimutu is the name of three different colored lakes located on the top of a volcano in Kelimutu National Park. The water in the lakes often changes color unpredictably from blue, green, red to white or black. Locals give different names to the lakes and believe that they are the resting places of departed souls. Of which, the western lake of the volcano is home to good souls and the other two lakes are for bad souls. | Wuhua, China:Zhangjiajie National Park, covering about 72,000 hectares, was recognized by UNESCO as a world heritage site in 1992. It attracts tourists with its diverse ecosystem and a brilliant lake called Wuhua. This lake is about 5m deep, surrounded by mountains, with colors that change from amber to jade green or sapphire blue. In winter, the lake does not freeze and the water level remains unchanged.
