(Baonghean.vn) - Due to its recent establishment, the facilities of Luu Kien Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities (Tuong Duong, Nghe An) are still lacking, especially accommodation for students; for the past two years, at the beginning of each new school year, parents have voluntarily contributed labor and materials to build dormitories for the students.

Luu Kien Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities, formerly Luu Kien Secondary School. Starting from July 2018, the school was decided to be converted into a boarding school to facilitate the study of children from remote areas. However, the school's facilities are very poor. For about 2 years now, at the beginning of every new school year, parents of the school have contributed bamboo, wood, etc. to build dormitories for their children to ensure their studies. |

Because their homes were far away, many parents in villages such as Luu Thong, Luu Phong, Pung, and Xoong Con had to bring bamboo, reeds, palm leaves, etc. to the gathering place days before. |

According to data provided by the school, in the 2019-2020 school year, the school had 260 students from the Mong and Thai ethnic groups, but 174 of them lived 6-15 km away from the school. On the first day of building the dormitory for students, all parents whose children were boarding at the school participated. |

Teacher Nguyen Thi Nhung, acting principal of Luu Kien Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities, said, “In 2018-2019, parents voluntarily contributed labor and materials to build 11 dormitories. This 2019-2020 school year, parents will continue to renovate and build 2 more rooms. According to the plan, it will be completed on August 9. In addition to renovating and building new rooms, parents also help the school plant flowers and renovate the campus...”. Currently, the contractor is building dormitories for students. If it is done early, by the end of the first semester of the 2019-2020 school year, students will have a new dormitory.
