Police officers protecting Ho Chi Minh Square
(Baonghean) -In this historic month of May, Ho Chi Minh Square (Vinh City, Nghe An) welcomed many delegations to offer incense, flowers, and report to Uncle Ho. We witnessed the dedicated service spirit of the officers and soldiers of the Security Police Team here.
In the golden sunlight, Ho Chi Minh Square was resplendent with the red flag and yellow star. The seriousness of the soldiers in uniforms as honor guard at the foot of Uncle Ho's statue made the ceremonies even more solemn. It was easy to see that the members of the delegations who came to offer incense were all young soldiers who performed their movements gently, quickly and skillfully, from guiding the delegates into the square, going up to the place where the ceremony was held, offering flowers to other security positions in the square.
For 8 years (May 18, 2003 - May 18, 2011), Ho Chi Minh Square has become the venue for many political, cultural and entertainment activities not only in Nghe An but also in the whole country, and for international delegations when coming to Nghe An. During the same period of time performing their duties, the officers and soldiers of the Ho Chi Minh Square CSBV Team have upheld their spirit of dedication to their work. Fully aware of their responsibilities and honors, each officer and soldier here is proud to protect a historical and cultural work of the country every day, especially to always be next to the Monument of beloved Uncle Ho. Although the number of soldiers on duty has changed, with the attention of the Party Committee, the leaders of the Provincial Police and the Protection and Mobile Police Department, the team of officers here has always excellently completed the assigned tasks.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Canh Tho - Deputy Head of the Department in charge of the Square Police Force Team, more than half of the current staff of the Team are conscripts, so the unit's leaders always focus on educating officers and soldiers about organizational discipline, especially the spirit and attitude of serving the people, serving delegations visiting and offering flowers at the square. The entire area assigned to the task of protecting a large area, so in addition to the 3 main guard towers, the team commander also maintains continuous patrol shifts 24/24 hours a day.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Hong - Head of the Square Police Department added: To ensure the safety of activities taking place in the Square, there are almost continuous patrols regardless of sunny or rainy weather, day or night. On average, every year, there are from 1,000 to 1,200 groups coming to the Square to organize flower offerings, report achievements and organize festival, cultural and artistic activities. In 2010, there were 1,255 groups with programs with nearly 60,000 participants.
Talking to us, Lieutenant Colonel Ho Xuan Thuy - Deputy Head of the Square Security Team said that many times they have protected high-ranking delegations of the Party, State, and diplomatic delegations who came to offer flowers and attend festivals here as well as interact with the people every day. They pay special attention to the service spirit, uniforms, and gestures of officers and soldiers. There have been many noble deeds of officers and soldiers here that have been highly appreciated by the unit, typically soldier Dang Nguyen Giap, while on guard, picked up a gold bracelet and turned it in to the unit to find and return it to the owner. Many times the team's officers and soldiers brought lost children to the square area to make announcements on the loudspeaker to find relatives and families.
The friendly gestures and many good deeds serving the people of the Ho Chi Minh Square Police Team have contributed to beautifying the image of the police in Uncle Ho's homeland. These are also vivid manifestations of the implementation of the campaign "People's Police strictly follow the regulations; build a cultural lifestyle to serve the people" in these historic days of May.
