Nghe An: Arrested Camry with fake license plate and ownerless

(Baonghean) -On November 7, 2011, after a week of discovering and seizing a Camry car with fake license plate 37A - 00358, but no one claiming to be the owner of the car came to claim it, Vinh City Police, Nghe An, coordinated with relevant agencies to search the ownerless car to investigate and handle it according to the law.

According to the investigation agency of Vinh City Police, Nghe An, on November 2, 2011, upon receiving a report that a black Camry car with a fake license plate 37A - 00358 (the license plate of another car owner in Vinh City) was stopped on Ngo Gia Tu Street, Block 6, Quan Bau Ward, Vinh City, the functional force of Vinh City Police was present at Quan Bau Ward, asking whoever was the owner or driver of the Camry car to come and check the car's papers, but all the households and people living and doing business nearby did not recognize the car. Meanwhile, the car 37A- 00358's door was locked, forcing Vinh City Police to use a tow truck to tow it to Vinh City Police headquarters for clarification.

After nearly a week of detention at Vinh City Police, despite being notified, the ownerless Camry car still had no one to claim, forcing the police to coordinate with the authorities to unlock the car to check and discover that all the back seats were gone. Checking the underside of the car, a sack (containing wild animals), 8 sets of fake car license plates of various types (including 1 set of military license plates), a car registration (which was found to be fake after appraisal), 1 pair of sunglasses and 3 million VND in cash.

It is worth mentioning that this is not the first case. Previously, there were several cases where subjects used a 4-seat Camry like the one above to transport wild animals. When discovered and chased by authorities, the driver abandoned the vehicle and the contraband and fled into the forest.

Currently, the vehicle and the seized evidence have been temporarily detained by Vinh City Police and are expanding the investigation to clarify who is the owner of the above ownerless vehicle.
