Trial of murderers

- On October 25, 2011, the Provincial People's Court opened a trial to hear the cases of defendants Luong Van Cuong (born 1993), La Van Noi (born 1988), La Van Man (born 1990), La Van Tu (born 1991), Tran Dinh Dan (born 1974), Luong Van Can (born 1987), Luong Van Toi (born 1983), and Lo Van Thuan (born 1990), all residing in Luc Da commune, Con Cuong district, Nghe An province, on charges of "Murder," "Intentional infliction of injury," and "Disruption of public order." According to the indictment, on February 4, 2011, due to a conflict, two groups of young men from Luc Da commune, Con Cuong district, fought. Luong Van Cuong, La Van Noi, La Van Man, and Luong Van Tu used sticks and stones to beat Vi Van Xai to death. Tran Dinh Dan used a knife to slash Luong Van Can, causing 4% injury.

The court sentenced the defendants as follows: Luong Van Cuong to 10 years in prison; La Van Noi to 8 years in prison, La Van Mann to 7 years in prison, La Van Tu to 7 years in prison; Tran Dinh Dan to 9 months in prison with a suspended sentence and 15 months probation; Luong Van Can to 12 months of non-custodial rehabilitation; Luong Van Toi to 9 months in prison with a suspended sentence and 15 months probation; Lo Van Thuan to 12 months of non-custodial rehabilitation.

- On the same day, the People's Court of Nghe An province opened a trial for the "Murder" case against Mong The Xuong (born in 1996), residing in Xieng Lip village, Yen Hoa commune, Tuong Duong district, Nghe An province. According to the indictment, on May 23, 2011, Xuong pushed and beat Lo Anh Nhu, born in 2004, causing her to fall into a ravine. He then removed her gold earrings. Seeing that Nhu was still alive, Xuong used a rock to hit her head, causing her death.

The court sentenced Xương to 10 years in prison and ordered him to pay 60 million VND in compensation to the victim's family.
