Authorities dismantled a large-scale gambling den in Nghi Thach, Nghi Loc.

(Baonghean.vn)The Nghe An Provincial Police have just initiated legal proceedings against 22 defendants to investigate their involvement in organizing gambling, facilitating gambling, and participating in gambling. Among them, Dinh Quang Hai (Hai "the Crane", 41 years old, residing in Block 1, Cua Nam Ward, Vinh City) is the ringleader of a large-scale gambling group that often chose farms in rural areas to organize illegal gambling.

Previously, as part of a special operation codenamed "711B," detectives from the Criminal Investigation Department of the Provincial Police discovered a gambling den organized by Hai in Nghi Thach commune, Nghi Loc district, Nghe An province. At the scene, the detectives seized nearly 500 million VND, 3 cars, and arrested dozens of suspects.

The modus operandi of the suspects to evade authorities was to rent 12-24 seater vehicles under the guise of transporting people to a wedding, but instead used them to organize gambling sessions involving dozens of gamblers at the farm. They erected tents and shelters, with gamblers placing bets of at least 1 million dong each time, sometimes up to 50 million dong. Hai's accomplices collected 1 million dong as a "commission" per game.
