Nghe An Library: Opening a reading room and launching a movement for the whole population to read books

(Baonghean) -This morning, November 11, Nghe An Provincial Library held a ceremony to open a new library and launch a reading movement for all people. Attending the ceremony were Mr. Nguyen Huu Gioi - Deputy Director of the Library Department, representatives of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and many readers in the province.

Nghe An Provincial Library was built with 7 spacious floors, with a total capital of 40 billion VND, located on Lenin Avenue - Vinh City, inaugurated in October 2010. Currently, the library has the largest collection of books and newspapers in the North Central region with 340 thousand copies, including many rare books such as: leaf books written in ancient Thai script, woodblocks engraved with characters and hundreds of Han Nom books, books printed during the resistance wars, along with hundreds of computers... to meet the research, lookup and learning needs of readers in the province.

To successfully implement the project "Developing Nghe An library to 2015 and vision to 2020", at the opening ceremony this morning, the provincial library leaders launched a movement for the whole people to compete in reading books. In which, they emphasized: The movement for the whole people to read books will be implemented from now until 2020 to honor the culture of reading books, help people access information, meet the needs of reading and learning, thereby contributing positively to the socio-economic development of the locality.

On this occasion, leaders of the Library Department and the Provincial Library awarded honorary cards to outstanding readers and presented books to some local libraries that have done a good job serving readers.

Leaders of the Department of Libraries, Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism cut the ribbon to open the new Library and viewed a collection of poems written in calligraphy by President Ho Chi Minh.
