(Baonghean) -To effectively implement the national target program on new rural construction, many localities in Nghi Loc district have gradually completed inter-village and inter-commune roads, and many people have voluntarily donated land to build rural roads.

The road section of Thai Hoc hamlet, Nghi Thai commune, is nearly 500m long and 6m wide, worth nearly 1 billion VND, and was built according to the criteria of a new rural area. To have this new road, the people here voluntarily donated their garden land, contributed additional funds and working days for construction. Many households donated nearly 100m2 of land, the smallest households donated over 3m.2This is also the result of mobilizing organizations to participate in propaganda to help people see the long-term effectiveness of expanding roads.

Thanks to the response of the people, along with the support of the State, many localities in Nghi Loc have completed the asphalt and concrete construction of roads early. A typical example of this movement is Nghi Thai commune, where nearly 150 households in 12 hamlets have donated land. In 2011, Nghi Thai built 7km of new asphalt roads according to new rural standards and 7km were cleared to prepare for construction. Mr. Vo Van Vinh - Chairman of Nghi Thai Commune People's Committee, said: From 2004 to now, the commune has had thousands of households donating land, donating gardens, and voluntarily demolishing constructions to serve the construction of rural roads in the locality. The lesson learned here is to implement democratic regulations well, and publicly inform the people about land donation policies. And this policy must be implemented synchronously throughout the hamlets.

According to the capital allocation plan for new rural construction for localities, in addition to large-scale infrastructure construction projects funded by the central and provincial budgets, the remaining small projects such as irrigation, concreting canals, and rural roads in communes are all implemented by localities. This fact shows that the policy of donating land for road construction in Nghi Loc district has brought about positive results.
