Arrest of illegal timber shipment of Anh Son Forestry Company Captain

(Baonghean) -The Environmental Police Department (Provincial Police) has just seized a batch of wood of unknown origin belonging to Mr. Nguyen Trong Do - Captain of Forest Protection Team No. 2 of the Anh Son District Forestry Company (Nghe An).

During the investigation, the police discovered a batch of more than 10 cubic meters of wood that had been sawed and carved into a rough house, and was stored in Mr. Do's house. The police also found that Mr. Do had used his position to collude with other people to set up a sawmill in the forest bordering Laos and Vietnam to illegally exploit wood. In connection with this sawmill, the police also seized a batch of about 23 cubic meters of Do wood imported from Laos to Vietnam without customs procedures.

At the investigation agency, Mr. Do initially stated that he bought wood to build a house.

The case is still under further investigation by the Provincial Police Department's Environmental Police Department.
