Nam Dan District People's Court holds mobile trial of 2 drug possession cases

(Baonghean) -On the morning of November 11, at Hung Tien Commune, Nam Dan District People's Court opened a mobile court to try two criminal cases against the defendants Hoang Van Khai (born in 1966), residing in Thanh Thuy Commune, Thanh Chuong District, and Nguyen Kim Sy (born in 1972), residing in Hung Tien Commune, for the crime of "illegal possession of narcotics".

According to the indictment, both defendants are drug addicts and were arrested by Nam Dan police with the evidence. During the search, the police seized 13.025 grams of heroin from Hoang Van Khai and 0.26 grams of heroin from Nguyen Kim Sy. During the investigation, the Nam Dan District People's Procuracy prosecuted the defendants for "illegal possession of narcotics" under Clauses 1 and 2, Article 194 of the Penal Code.
The People's Court of Nam Dan District sentenced defendant Hoang Van Khai to 9 years and 6 months in prison. As for defendant Nguyen Kim Sy, he committed the crime as a recidivist with 2 previous convictions for theft of citizen property and destruction of socialist property, so the People's Court of Nam Dan District sentenced Nguyen Kim Sy to 30 months in prison.
