According to information from the investigation agency, on the evening of February 8, Vi Van Trung, Mai Duc Trung and Ha Van Son were drinking coffee at Thang Le cafe in Binh Hong block, Nghia Dan town when they had a conflict with Phan Tien Quynh (born in 1986), residing in Nghia Binh commune, Nghia Dan district. Afterwards, the three subjects chased Quynh to the front of Nghia Dan town post office, Ha Van Son used a spear to stab Quynh once in the stomach, once in the head and once in the right shoulder, seriously injuring Quynh. Although he was taken to the hospital for treatment, Quynh died at the Northwest Nghe An Regional General Hospital on February 10 due to severe injuries.
