The incident occurred just days before the Libyan delegation to the 2012 London Summer Olympics departed for the UK. The five-member delegation will compete in judo, marathon, women's 100m and weightlifting.
Before the wave of protests last year that toppled leader Muammar Gaddafi, the position of President of the country's Olympic Committee belonged to Gaddafi's eldest son, Mohammed, who is currently a refugee in Algeria with
other family members./.
