The Ben Thuy II Bridge has been completed.

(Baonghean.vn) - This afternoon, June 16th, the General Construction Corporation No. 4 held a ceremony to connect the two sections of the Ben Thuy II Bridge. Attending the ceremony were Comrade Dinh La Thang - Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam - Minister of Transport, and Nguyen Dac Vinh - First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union. Representing Nghe An province were: Comrade Tran Hong Chau - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee - Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Comrade Thai Van Hang - Vice Chairman of the Nghe An Provincial People's Committee; and Comrade Nguyen Thanh Binh - Secretary of the Ha Tinh Provincial Party Committee.

The Ben Thuy 2 Bridge project was approved by the Ministry of Transport on October 2, 2008, in two phases. Phase 1, with a total investment of over 1.259 billion VND, was funded by government bonds. The project included approach roads, bridge approaches, and the main bridge over the Lam River. The total length is 2,941m, with a roadbed and bridge deck width of 25m (the approach roads and main bridge over the river are 996m long, and the approach roads on both sides are 1,963m long).

The project commenced on March 14, 2010, and to date, 84% of the construction work has been completed. The construction progress has basically met the requirements of the Ministry of Transport, with technical opening to traffic scheduled for September 2nd.

The completion of the Ben Thuy 2 bridge's joining ceremony marks the completion of the most important and significant stage in the bridge's construction. It acknowledges the efforts of the contractors, despite the project being carried out during a period of financial difficulties and harsh natural conditions.

The Minister and leaders of the two provinces witnessed the signing ceremony for cooperation in promoting traffic safety.

At the ceremony, representatives from the Construction Corporation No. 4 signed an agreement to coordinate traffic safety awareness campaigns on National Highway 1A, the section passing through Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces, with representatives from the Youth Unions of Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces.
