Establish a center to respond to railway rescue incidents
Vietnam Railway Corporation has launched the Railway Disaster Response and Rescue Center.
At the launching ceremony, Deputy Minister of Transport Le Manh Hung affirmed: “In the context that Vietnam is being strongly affected by climate change, flash floods frequently occur, the establishment of the Railway Disaster Response and Rescue Center is necessary and urgent. The Center, when put into operation, will contribute to quickly and effectively overcoming incidents occurring in railway traffic.”

Once established, the Center will take prevention as its main task, aiming to prevent and promptly handle unfortunate accidents that may occur.
The Ministry of Transport has also assigned the Center the task of coordinating well with relevant agencies, especially the National Search and Rescue Center, to coordinate timely and effective operations when incidents occur.
Also at the launching ceremony, Mr. Pham Van Binh was assigned as Director of the Center for Disaster Response and Railway Rescue.
The Railway Disaster Response and Rescue Center under the Vietnam Railway Corporation was established by the Ministry of Transport; its international transaction name is "Vietnam Railway Rescue and Natural Calamity Response Center" (VNRRRC), headquartered at 107 Tran Hung Dao, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi City.
The center carries out work to prevent, combat and overcome consequences of floods and storms; respond to natural disasters and railway rescue according to regulations.
The Center has its own seal, opens an account at the State Treasury, and has dependent units which are regional centers in Hanoi, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh City.
The Railway Incident, Disaster and Rescue Response Center is under the direct command and management of Vietnam Railways Corporation; at the same time, it performs other tasks in the field of preventing, combating and responding to railway incidents, natural disasters and rescue when requested by the Central Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention and Control, the National Committee for Search and Rescue, the National Safety Committee and the Ministry of Transport.../.
