The draft Decree amending and supplementing a number of articles of Decree No. 91/2009/ND-CP dated October 21, 2009 of the Government on business and conditions for business of automobile transportation has been submitted by the Ministry of Transport to the Government, including regulations on taxi paint color.

Accordingly, enterprises and cooperatives must register a uniform characteristic paint color decoration on the registered paint color background of the vehicle (not the same as the previously registered paint color decoration of the enterprise or cooperative), the logo and the transaction phone number on the vehicle of the enterprise or cooperative. For centrally-run cities that have regulations on paint color for taxis, enterprises and cooperatives must apply the paint color according to the city's regulations.

According to this regulation, the Ministry of Transport wants to help people recognize the differences between taxi companies to choose when they need to travel by taxi (combined with phone number and logo).

Enterprises and cooperatives have many options for registering paint colors and decorative forms on the paint background according to vehicle registration.

Thus, the above regulation does not require enterprises and cooperatives to repaint all vehicles in a uniform color, but only requires all vehicles in each enterprise to have uniformity in decoration methods and paint colors in the decoration.

Particularly for centrally-run cities, if there are regulations on paint colors for taxis of businesses and cooperatives registered to do business in the city, the paint colors must comply with regulations under the authority of the People's Council and People's Committee of the city./.
