Boat capsizes in Ha Long Bay, 5 tourists die

At 3:30 p.m. on October 3, a collision occurred on Ha Long Bay (Ha Long City - Quang Ninh), causing a boat carrying 18 tourists to capsize and 5 people died.

According to initial information, the boat carrying 18 tourists, all Taiwanese (China), returning to the Paradise QN-6688 boat after visiting Sung Sot cave in Ha Long Bay collided with the Phuong Dong boat with license plate QN-1402.

The impact was so strong that the boat capsized. Rescue forces quickly arrived at the scene and saved 13 people. According to Mr. Dang Huy Hau, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province, by 4:30 p.m. the same day, the authorities had found 5 dead victims, including 4 adults (1 male, 3 females) and 1 girl born in 2003.

The bodies of the victims were taken to Bai Chay Regional General Hospital. The 13 survivors were taken to a safe place.

Authorities said the above guests were taken by Smile Viet Company (Hanoi).

Quang Ninh province authorities directed the handling of the accident on the afternoon of October 3.
