There should be a stele to commemorate some of the "red addresses" of Truong Thi land.
(Baonghean) - Truong Thi Ward, Vinh City has just celebrated its 30th anniversary (August 21, 1982 - August 21, 2012). Officials and people are very excited about the ward's development in all aspects in recent times and are also very honored and proud to have special cultural and welfare works such as: Ho Chi Minh Square and Uncle Ho's statue; Central Park built in the area, Nguyen Tat Thanh Park (Goong Lake) is being renovated and upgraded; Ha Ma Temple has just been ranked as a provincial-level Historical - Cultural Relic, which are attractive addresses, attracting people and tourists to visit and travel. However, there are still addresses with cultural and historical sediments on the ward's land such as Truong Thi Huong School, Truong Thi Train Repair Factory, Truong Thi Workers' Hamlet (Quan Lau Market) that have not yet received attention...
The Nghe An Provincial Examination School was built during the reign of King Le Thai Tong (1434-1442) in Nghia Liet commune (now Hung Lam commune, Hung Nguyen district) and was one of 13 examination schools in the country. King Gia Long (Nguyen dynasty) moved the Nghe An capital from Lam Thanh to Vinh (1804), then the Provincial Examination School was moved to Vinh in 1807 and held the first examination of the Nguyen dynasty. The examination school was initially located in the southeast of Thong bridge (west of Truong Thi street today). In the 3rd year of Thieu Tri, the school was moved to Yen Dung commune, Chan Loc district (now Military Region 4 Command). The special thing is that since the establishment of the Provincial Examination School, the examination results of Nghe people have developed brilliantly, ranking first and second in the country.
In the early 20th century, Vinh - Ben Thuy urban area entered the period of capitalist industrialization. A number of industrial establishments appeared: Canned fish factory (1900), Match factory (1904), Electric factory (1909), Vinh railway locomotive maintenance depot (1910). Vinh - Ben Thuy became an industrial center at that time.
At first, the professional labor force (called blue-shirt workers) in these factories, transferred by capitalists from the North, brought their wives and children together, settled down, and formed the Bac Ky workers' quarter (also called Truong Thi workers' quarter), located north of Quan Lau market. The workers' quarter grew more and more crowded when the French advocated recruiting local workers at cheap prices to work in the factories (called brown-shirt workers). Truong Thi workers' quarter was one of the bases during the Party's establishment period, a place where important leaders and cadres of the Party such as Nguyen Phong Sac, Tran Phu, Le Duan, Nguyen Duc Canh, Tran Manh Quy, and Nguyen Thi Nghia came and went to work. Truong Thi was also the place that contributed to fanning the flames of the historic demonstration on May 1, 1930, in which, for the first time, "Workers - Farmers - Soldiers shook hands in the middle of the battle", opening the Nghe-Tinh Soviet movement...
Thus, the above "red addresses" are the traditional pride of Truong Thi land that needs to be honored. If they do not meet the conditions to be recognized as relics, at least there should be steles to record the names and commemorate them to serve tourists and educate long-term traditions.
