Director and Deputy Director of COSEVCO branch in Nghe An arrested urgently.
(Baonghean)According to official sources from the Nghe An Provincial Police, Pham Viet Van, Director of the COSEVCO branch in Nghe An, along with three subordinates, have been arrested urgently to clarify their involvement in the murder of Nguyen Quang Hanh (residing in Nghi Thach commune, Nghi Loc district).
Lieutenant Colonel Pham Hoai Nam, Deputy Head of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Nghe An Provincial Police, stated: “On the afternoon of January 23, the investigating agency urgently arrested Pham Viet Van - Director of the COSEVCO Construction Trading and Import-Export Company's branch in Nghe An, and three subordinates: Le Van Trong - Deputy Director of the branch, Cu Hoang Oai (employee), and Nguyen Van Thanh (employee) to clarify their involvement in the murder of Nguyen Quang Hanh (born in 1977, residing in Nghi Loc district).” That same afternoon, the investigating agency executed a search warrant at Pham Viet Van's private residence in Block 19, Hung Binh Ward, Vinh City.

Previously, on January 21st, Nguyen Quang Hanh and his father, Nguyen Quang Minh, traveled from Nghi Loc to the Nghe An branch of COSEVCO Construction Trading and Import-Export Company (84 Nguyen Trai Street, Vinh City) to demand the return of their $2,500 deposit (for registering for overseas employment in Angola, Mr. Hanh had deposited $5,500, and after several attempts, only $3,000 was returned). At the branch office, a group of thugs stormed in and attacked Nguyen Quang Hanh. Seeing his son being beaten, Mr. Minh intervened but was overpowered by the thugs, dragged outside, and brutally beaten. Nguyen Quang Hanh was stabbed and fatally wounded, dying at the Nghe An branch of COSEVCO Construction Trading and Import-Export Company.
To date, nine individuals have been arrested in this case: Pham Viet Van (Director of COSEVCO Nghe An Branch), Le Van Trong (Deputy Director of COSEVCO Nghe An Branch), Cu Hoang Oai (branch employee), Nguyen Van Thanh (branch employee), Nguyen Van Hoan (born 1991, Hamlet 13, Nghi Phu Commune), Pham Van Nguyen (born 1991, residing in Vinh Tan Commune), Ton That Hoang (born 1989, Vinh Tan Commune), Ngo Quang Hung (23 years old), and Le Van Hai (Hamlet 1, Nghi Van Commune, Nghi Loc District).
The victim, Nguyen Quang Hanh, was from Nghi Thiet commune. He and his wife resided in Son Market (Nghi Thach commune, Nghi Loc district). His wife, Nguyen Thi Dat, was a seamstress and was two months pregnant. "The case is being expanded by the investigating agency to clarify and determine the responsibility of those involved!" said Colonel Nguyen Huu Cau, Deputy Director of the Provincial Police.
