This year, she has restructured 6.5 sao to produce high-quality rice with AC5 variety, an increase of 0.5 sao compared to the previous spring crop, and the remaining nearly 4 sao to produce Khang Dan 18 variety rice for sale to the company. According to her, AC5 rice does not have a high yield, reaching 3 quintals/sao, but the quality of the rice is good, the price is higher than other hybrid rice varieties (5.5-6 thousand VND/kg of rice), it can reach 8.5 thousand VND/kg of rice, and traders buy it at home.
Providing rice seeds to members at Van Son Agricultural Service Cooperative
Yen Son commune has over 200 hectares of spring rice, of which 60 hectares produce high-quality rice for commercial purposes. Mr. Tran Duc Tuan - Chairman of Yen Son Agricultural Cooperative, said: In the 2013 spring crop, to improve the quality and efficiency of commercial rice, the commune continued to encourage people to produce 18 hectares of rice seeds using the Sieu Khang Dan 18 rice variety. Currently, the Cooperative has signed a contract with Nghe An Seed Joint Stock Company with nearly 1 ton of seeds for people to produce. Compared to last year, this spring crop, the commune increased the area of high-quality rice by nearly 70 hectares, mainly AC5 and No. 1 aromatic varieties.
In Van Son Commune, according to the Chairman of the Cooperative Nguyen Dang Ha, this spring crop, the commune will convert some areas of other pure rice varieties to increase the area of high-quality rice from 70 hectares to 120 hectares with AC5 variety. Currently, the Cooperative has signed a contract with Vinh Hoa-Vinh Thanh Seed Company Limited in Yen Thanh to bring nearly 1.6 tons of the above rice variety to people for the spring crop.
Thus, it can be seen that, compared to previous years, in the spring crop of 2013, the communes in the central rice area of Do Luong district have had a strong change in the structure of varieties, focusing on producing rice varieties and expanding the scope of high-quality rice production, improving production efficiency... This spring crop, the district has structured the production of 5,500 hectares of hybrid rice, 1,700 hectares of high-quality rice, an increase of 600 hectares of high-quality rice compared to the spring crop of 2012, concentrated in the communes of Yen Son, Van Son, Thinh Son, Hoa Son, Lac Son, Thai Son, mainly rice varieties such as AC5, Nghi Huong 2308, Bio404. With hybrid rice varieties, the district has structured the main rice varieties that have been chosen by the people as Khai Phong 1, Nhi Uu 986, Syn 6, Khai Phong 7, Nghi Huong 2308, B-TE1. In addition, the district has also introduced high-quality pure rice varieties such as Vat Tu NA2, Khang Dan 18, Nep 352. According to the district's direction, local people strictly comply with the implementation of supplying and selecting rice varieties, suppliers, 100% plastic cover, each field should only structure 1-3 varieties.
According to Mr. Tran Doan Hung - Head of the Department of Agriculture of Do Luong district, this spring crop, to speed up the efficiency of high-quality rice production, the district will build two more large-scale rice fields in Van Son and Lac Son. The district will allocate a budget to support investment of 2.5 million VND/ha, each model will have a minimum of 50 ha. The Department has advised the District People's Committee to organize a workshop, collect opinions from the Plant Seed Joint Stock Company, Agricultural Materials Joint Stock Company, Plant Seed Center, Vinh Hoa Company Limited (Yen Thanh) and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to organize a workshop and agree on specific issues in the supply of seeds and production of high-quality rice, rice seeds as well as efficiency in large-scale rice fields in the spring crop.
