Thanh Chuong focuses on preventing blast disease on spring rice
(Baonghean.vn) -Although the area was closed later than other localities, thanks to favorable weather, good fertilization and strict adherence to production processes and techniques, spring rice in Thanh Chuong has grown very well so far. However, in some areas, pests and diseases have begun to appear, especially leaf blast disease.
The family has 3 sao of rice fields, and on the 4th day of Tet, Mrs. Tran Thi Toan's family (Hong village, Thanh Linh) started to go to the fields to plant rice. Thanks to good fertilization, healthy seedlings and warm weather, the rice plants grew and developed very quickly. According to Mrs. Toan, the family's 3 sao of rice fields only planted hybrid rice varieties, mainly Syn6, and were planted late so they have not yet been affected by rice blast disease. However, she visits the fields regularly every day to be able to prevent it in time, "if not prevented well, it will be very easy for neck blast to cause crop failure" - she said.
Rice blast disease control in Thanh Thinh (Thanh Chuong)
This spring crop, Thanh Chuong planted more than 8 thousand hectares of rice, mainly hybrid rice varieties such as Syn 6, Khai Phong.... Mr. Khanh (Deputy Head of the District Agriculture Department) said: Currently, spring rice is growing very well, in the early stages of tillering and intensive tillering, however, blast disease has begun to appear, causing local damage to some rice varieties in Thanh Huong, Thanh Thinh communes..., mainly in the fields of nooks and crannies, mountainside and sour fields. In diseased fields, the average disease rate is 1 - 2%, in high places it is 4 - 5%.
Although the area of rice affected by the disease as well as the infection rate are at a mild level, Thanh Chuong district has actively and proactively implemented preventive measures to prevent the disease from spreading widely.
According to forecasts, the weather in the coming time will be warm but interspersed with cold air, drizzle, fog, high humidity, while farmers are focusing on fertilizing rice to produce tillers, which are extremely favorable conditions for rice blast disease to arise, spread and cause widespread damage. Therefore, the district has directed communes and district plant protection stations to coordinate, increase regular field inspections, and guide people to fertilize in a balanced and timely manner. It is recommended that people immediately stop fertilizing with nitrogen, and at the same time keep enough water in the fields to limit nitrogen loss and immediately take preventive measures with specific drugs such as Filia 525 SE, Vista 72.5 WP, Bump 650WP... according to the recommendations of agricultural officials when detecting diseased rice fields.
Currently, the weather is alternating between rain and sunshine, so for fields with severe disease, if it rains after spraying, the second spray must be done and the next spray must be done 5-7 days after the previous spray, and only when no diseased spots are found can the care be continued. In particular, the district also recommends that people absolutely do not use foliar fertilizers on fields that are damaged by blast disease.
