Mr. Nguyen Dang Chuong, Director of the Department of Performing Arts, affirmed at the regular briefing meeting of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism that the Department has now licensed the dissemination of an additional 52 songs by authors and co-authors composed before 1975 in the southern provinces, as well as songs composed by Vietnamese people residing abroad.

The artists are practicing a newly licensed song by the late composer Trịnh Công Sơn.

Mr. Nguyen Dang Chuong revealed that the Department of Performing Arts has currently received over 2,000 song requests for licensing. The latest information indicates that the Department has just licensed an additional 52 songs by authors and co-authors composed before 1975 in the southern provinces, as well as songs composed by Vietnamese people residing abroad, bringing the total number of licensed songs to over 1,600. Among them are the famous "Yellow Skin" songs by the late musician Trinh Cong Son.

Currently, the Department of Performing Arts is requesting that the Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism finalize the list of songs currently in circulation, and then create a list of licensed songs for easier management in performance activities. This task is currently facing considerable difficulties because the Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism believe that it is more appropriate for the Department of Performing Arts to conduct this review, as the Department is the licensing body and therefore has a thorough understanding of the performance situation.

Regarding the rectification of performing arts activities, Mr. Nguyen Dang Chuong, Director of the Department of Performing Arts, said that it is almost one year since the issuance of Directive 65/CT-BVHTTDL on rectifying performing arts and fashion shows. Mr. Chuong stated that the Department has strictly dealt with performing arts activities over the past year. The total amount of fines collected in rectifying these activities is 67 million VND.

Mr. Chuong also added that recently, besides prominent issues such as artists dressing inappropriately, lip-syncing, and releasing "racy" clips, a new problem has emerged that has angered the public: the rampant and offensive insertion of advertisements into reality TV shows. A recent example is the "Perfect Couple" program, which drew numerous complaints from viewers due to the offensive advertisement where contestants cut up the packaging of a noodle brand to use as decorative patterns on their performance costumes. Currently, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has not yet commented on these issues, but previously, in response to the press, representatives of the Ministry hinted that programs violating advertising regulations would be suspended.
