(Baonghean.vn) - The 2013 King Mai Temple Festival took place from the 13th to the 15th day of the first lunar month of the Year of the Snake (February 22nd to 24th, 2013). Today (February 23rd), the festival entered its second day with cultural and artistic programs, sports, and folk games such as a youth camp; an open women's volleyball tournament; human chess, wrestling, mountain climbing, swing riding, tug-of-war, sack race, and a sticky rice and chicken cooking competition...

The beautiful, calm, and rain-free weather created favorable conditions for a large number of local people and tourists to attend the festival; to participate in the festival activities as well as to offer incense at the Temple and Mausoleum of King Mai.

This year, the King Mai Temple Festival is a provincial-level festival linked to the 1,300th anniversary of the Hoan Chau Uprising (which will take place at 7:30 PM tonight at the King Mai historical site – broadcast live on VTV1 and NTV). Preparations for the anniversary celebration are being finalized; drawing on lessons learned from previous years' festivals, this year's festival will be more systematically organized, from ensuring security and order, fire prevention, to the organizing committee's arrangement of food areas and sanitation facilities around the historical site…
