April 15, 2013 21:54

(Baonghean.vn) -On the morning of April 15th, the Traffic Safety Committee of Nghe An province implemented a program to exchange substandard helmets for quality ones in Vinh City. Accordingly, people who bring their poor-quality helmets to designated exchange points will receive a subsidy of 30,000 to 100,000 VND.

According to our observations, at helmet exchange locations in Vinh City such as the Central Park Exhibition Area, the vacant land opposite the Provincial Police's 113 Police headquarters, the vacant land along Le Nin Boulevard, and the Cua Nam flower garden area, there was a relatively large number of customers exchanging their helmets. Most customers chose helmets priced between 150,000 and 220,000 VND, with a price reduction of 30,000 to 50,000 VND per product depending on the style and brand.

The program to exchange fake and substandard helmets for standard-compliant helmets is being implemented by the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee in coordination with Hanoi Metro Joint Stock Company throughout the province for a period of two months (from April 15th to June 15th). After implementation in Vinh City, the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee will expand the program to all districts and towns in the province.

Exchanging helmets this morning in Vinh City..

Mr. Nguyen Huu Bien, Head of Sales Department of Hanoi Metro Joint Stock Company, said: The helmet exchange program is being implemented in Nghe An province to carry out the policy of the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee on promoting and encouraging people riding motorcycles and scooters to wear standard helmets to reduce the risk of traffic accidents. Initially, the company has brought in 7 lines of helmets priced from 150,000 VND to 600,000 VND, with diverse and rich designs to meet consumer needs.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh from Block 16, Truong Thi, bought a helmet for 220,000 VND, with a 50,000 VND discount, so she only paid 170,000 VND for a standard helmet. Ms. Thanh shared: "I learned about the helmet exchange program through advertising banners on the street, so I made sure to come early this morning to exchange mine. I found the program to have a wide variety of models and products. Compared to the prices outside, it's not much cheaper, but I'm confident about the quality and don't have to worry about buying counterfeit or fake goods."

Ms. Nguyen Thi Van from An Hoa block, Ha Huy Tap ward, said: "The program is very convenient for consumers, especially in terms of product quality and reasonable prices, suitable for low-income people like us."

Mr. Pham Van Chuong, from Block 13, Truong Thi Ward, bought a CT6CB helmet for 150,000 VND, with a 30,000 VND discount. He said: "I am very confident in the quality and satisfied with the design and style of the product. I really like buying this 'genuine' helmet. When I get home, I will spread the word and encourage people in my block to exchange their fake helmets for quality helmets."
