(Baonghean) -With the desire to find a way out of poverty for women, in recent years, the Women's Union of Quynh Dien commune has focused on vocational training and creating new jobs for women. Thanks to that, many women have had more income and improved their lives.

In previous years, like other women in the village, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ly in Hamlet 1, Quynh Dien Commune, worked hard all year round in the fields, from the rice growing season to the corn and potato growing season. However, in the past two years, thanks to participating in a training course on rattan and bamboo weaving for export organized by the Women's Union in collaboration with Duc Phong Company Limited, she has had an additional job with a stable income, contributing to improving her life. Currently, after the planting season, she takes advantage of her free time to go to the village warehouse with her sisters to weave rattan and bamboo products to earn more income and cover her living expenses. On average, Ms. Ly earns 50,000 - 70,000 VND per day. Ms. Ly said: "At first, learning this profession was difficult, but now that I have mastered it, it seems simple. This job can also be done in your spare time, if you work all day, you can make 4 to 5 products."

Bamboo and rattan production in Quynh Dien - Quynh Luu.

Up to now, the Women's Union of Quynh Dien commune has opened 12 training classes on rattan and bamboo weaving for export with 350 members participating in production, concentrated in hamlets 1 and 2. The income of each female worker is from 15 to 20 million VND/year. The members have produced beautiful and diverse products such as lanterns of all sizes, pots, etc. As soon as the products are produced, the company's vehicles come to the place to purchase them all. The scale of the factory has enough space and machinery for the women to work. Although there were many difficulties at first, with the attention and facilitation of the local government and the efforts of the women, up to now, the Quynh Dien rattan and bamboo weaving export cooperative has created conditions for 70 women to escape poverty. Due to the stable source of goods and the timely supply of raw materials by the company, the village's revenue has always been stable for 5 consecutive years. In 2012 alone, the production value that the craft village contributed to the total revenue of the locality was more than 2 billion VND. Ms. Tran Thi Lai - Head of the Management Board of Quynh Dien rattan and bamboo weaving craft village said: "Quynh Dien is a commune that monocultures rice, so the lives of the people are still difficult. The Women's Union of the commune has consulted and proposed to the Party Committee and the government to find additional jobs to increase the income of the women. Up to now, this rattan and bamboo weaving craft has created additional income for the women, on average 1.5 million VND/person/month."

Hopefully, with the attention and support of the local government, the Women's Union of Quynh Dien commune will make more efforts, especially expanding the scale of the craft village so that more women can access this profession, thereby contributing to increasing income and stabilizing life.
