(Baonghean) -In the spring crop of 2013, Quynh Ngoc commune mainly planted commercial rice varieties such as RVT, sticky rice 97, etc. Thanks to good care, these rice varieties gave high productivity and yield.

With a total area of 3,500m2, this crop, Mr. Ho Dinh Uyen's family in Hamlet 9, Quynh Ngoc Commune, has restructured 1,500m2 of RVT rice and glutinous rice 97 on a field specializing in commercial rice cultivation. The remaining area is mainly planted with hybrid rice Sy Huong 308. These are all easy-to-care-for varieties, adapted to the land of the commune, so the rice grows quickly, the rice panicles are long, the grains are densely packed, the yield is from 3.5 to 4 quintals/sao, and is very popular in the market. Thanks to the direction of concentrated planting according to the planning of the seed area, proper care, and good work in removing grass and mixed rice from the fields, this type of rice ensures relatively high quality every year.

On the same unit of production area, his family's income has increased significantly. Mr. Uyen said: "With the attention of the Party Committee and Minh Chau Cooperative, my family has participated in training courses since the beginning of the year. I have followed pest prevention methods and seasonal production processes, so the total area of my family in particular and the whole commune and hamlet in general, the rice has grown normally and has good resistance."

In the 2012-2013 winter-spring crop, Minh Chau Cooperative, Quynh Ngoc Commune planted 170 hectares, of which 60 hectares were used for commercial rice production. Through the evaluation results, in general, this year's rice is good, with few pests and diseases, saving labor for care. The average rice yield of the whole commune is estimated at 70 - 75 quintals/ha.

Achieving success in production, the locality has recently identified direction and management as an important task, from directing the timing of crops, water, and soil to care and fertilization, closely monitoring the development of pests and diseases, directing farmers to spray pesticides promptly and quickly harvest ripe rice.

In particular, for the specialized rice fields, the commune has contracted with the Central Seed Company 1 to supply high-value RVT and glutinous rice varieties 97 for cultivation. Only after the end of the harvest season do farmers have to pay for the seeds to the company. More importantly, the company has sent staff directly to the locality to purchase the original rice varieties produced by the people. The economic value has increased by more than 3% compared to other rice varieties.

Mr. Le Duc Thang - Chairman of Minh Chau Cooperative, Quynh Ngoc Commune, said: "Up to now, the rice area of Quynh Ngoc has basically been harvested. We have directed the concentrated harvesting to clean the threshing machine, ensuring to avoid mixing the varieties for the seed company to purchase. Other varieties generally reach 70 - 75 quintals/ha".
