Chung cake and Day cake cooking contest to offer to King Hung

On April 17, at the Hung Temple historical relic site, the Hung Kings' death anniversary - Hung Temple Festival Organizing Committee held a contest to wrap and cook banh chung and pound banh day to offer to the Hung Kings.

Participating in the contest are teams including: Hoa Binh, Phu Tho 1, Phu Tho 2, Hung Yen, Hai Duong, Yen Bai and Hanoi.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc An, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Phu Tho province, said: Banh chung and banh day are symbols of heaven and earth, made from fragrant sticky rice, a typical product of wet rice cultivation since the time of King Hung.

These two special cakes are associated with ancestor worship, with the worship of Hung Kings of the Vietnamese people.MaleThe contest of wrapping, cooking banh chung and pounding banh day is held annually at the Hung Temple historical relic site to express gratitude and appreciation for the merits of the Hung Kings, who created a beautiful custom of the nation.

At the end of the contest, the Organizing Committee awarded first prize in the Chung cake wrapping and cooking contest to Phu Tho 1 team; first prize in the Day cake pounding contest to Hai Duong team. These two teams will be able to present Chung cake and Day cake to King Hung on the 10th day of the third lunar month next year./.
