When Party building work is given priority

(Baonghean)Tay Hieu 2 Farm is a member unit of Nghe An Coffee and Rubber Company Limited. Over the years, thanks to the emphasis on Party building, especially the effective role of each Party member in all activities, production and business efficiency have been improved, bringing stable living conditions to cadres and workers.

Located in Nghia Hieu commune (Nghia Dan district), Tay Hieu 2 Farm has 435 cadres and workers and 156 households contracted to cultivate rubber, oranges, lemons, and other short-term crops on a total area of ​​620 hectares. Of this, rubber plays a key role with 319 hectares (200 hectares already in production) and 110 hectares of oranges and lemons. The farm's Party Committee consists of 4 subordinate branches: 3 branches in the production teams and 1 branch in the office. For a production and business unit with only 16 indirect staff and the rest being direct production workers, Party work is considered extremely important in improving grassroots management and boosting production and business efficiency. Mr. Pham Xuan Duc - Secretary and Director of the Farm - said: The Party meeting schedule is set and strictly implemented from the Party Committee to the branches. The content of the meetings closely aligns with the company and farm's plans, allowing for the dissemination of information to party members before professional meetings. In particular, in the production teams, we implement a model where the secretary also serves as the team leader, thereby assigning specific responsibilities to the team leader.

Passing through the lush, green rubber tree forests, we arrived at the Tan Thanh production team just as the workers were getting ready for the new rubber tapping season. Approaching the trees belonging to Mr. Le Minh Phuc – a worker with 20 years of experience in rubber cultivation – and listening to his story, we truly understood the changes in his family's life thanks to the income from oranges and rubber grown on his 3-hectare plot under contract with the farm. Speaking about his family's production efficiency, he shared: “On average, my family earns a net profit of 80 million VND per year from 1.4 hectares of rubber. In previous years, when rubber prices were high, the income was even much higher. In addition, after deducting expenses, my family earns an extra 90 million VND annually from selling oranges. The steady income has made our family life stable, allowing us to provide for our children.”

Mr. Phuc served in the army and had the honor of joining the Party 25 years ago while still in service. After leaving the army and returning to civilian life, he became a worker at Tay Hieu 2 Farm. Therefore, it's perhaps not surprising that the qualities of a veteran soldier and Party member are consistently demonstrated not only in production, as evidenced by the impressive figures he shared above, but also in his daily life. "I must be exemplary in my political ideology, participating in movements both at the unit and in the locality to contribute to building a better material and spiritual life. I'm also very pleased that the superiors pay close attention to Party building work at the grassroots level, providing the Party newspaper to the branch. Therefore, we Party members have the opportunity to gather more knowledge and motivation to strive," Mr. Phuc confided.

Also at Tan Thanh team, Comrade Nguyen Cong Thanh, Party Secretary and Team Leader, is a prime example in the movement to study and follow the moral example of Ho Chi Minh at Tay Hieu 2 Farm. For many years, Tan Thanh team, with 97 workers and 12 Party members, under the leadership of Team Leader Nguyen Cong Thanh, has consistently performed well, and the workers' living standards have continuously improved. Team Leader Nguyen Cong Thanh shared: “As the Party Secretary, I must set a good example so that Party members and workers will trust and follow me. Here, during each monthly Party branch meeting, we closely review and evaluate the developments in ideological work and the results of labor and production. Through this, we promote the pioneering role of each Party member in the branch in the team's overall activities.”

The strengthening of Party building at the grassroots level has created a positive effect on the general movements at Tay Hieu 2 Farm. In particular, the unit's production and business performance has been very promising. In 2012, revenue reached 38.3 billion VND, exceeding the planned target of 37.7 billion VND. This result is truly encouraging, especially considering the difficulties faced by the global and national economies, specifically the sharp decline in the price of rubber latex, the unit's main product, compared to more than two years ago.

Mr. Pham Xuan Duc, Secretary and Director of Tay Hieu 2 Farm, said: “In our unit, studying and following the moral example of Ho Chi Minh and thoroughly implementing the spirit of Central Resolution 4 has become a regular practice. Through this, we educate and train each cadre and Party member to have a sense of responsibility to contribute to improving the efficiency of the unit's operations, while also setting an example and having a sense of responsibility to build the locality where they reside. To achieve this, the training of Party members must focus on the grassroots level, coupled with the development of new Party members among workers. In the first three months of this year, we have admitted 4 new Party members.”
