Comrade Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee chaired the meeting.

Currently, the forested land area in the whole province is over 885,574 hectares and thanks to the management and exploitation of forest potential, the province's forestry export turnover has increased sharply each year. In 2012 alone, the total export turnover of forestry products reached over 84 million USD, accounting for 50% of the total export turnover of agricultural products and 16% of the total export turnover of the province.

However, there are still difficulties, data on planning, forest resource developments, forest growth, reserves, forest product output... are still inadequate. In many places, the forest timber business is not effective, the exploitation of young forests is still common. Forestry infrastructure, especially the transportation system, is both lacking and of poor quality. Processing and consumption of products are still limited, mainly exported are semi-processed products. In particular, the funding source to pay salaries for self-supporting contract workers performing forest development tasks at the Management Boards of protective and special-use forests; Forestry companies; Youth Volunteer Teams is still not balanced.

Leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Department of Planning and Investment spoke at the meeting.

Concluding the meeting, Mr. Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested: The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development needs to advise on implementing propaganda work well to limit the current situation of exploiting young forests; Develop documents clearly defining the responsibilities of each level and sector in forest protection and development; Advise the province on forest exploitation plans... The Department also needs to coordinate well with the Department of Finance and the State Treasury in implementing financial plans for forest protection and development to ensure progress./.
